SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES The Deposit Operations Exceptions Supervisor supports the Deposit Operations Manager by overseeing the daily workflow in Exceptions which includes the processing of Non-Post items, NSF, Stop Payments, Return Deposited Items, Missing work review and account closures. This position is responsible for ensuring all work is completed accurately, efficiently, in compliance with regulations and on-time. The position manages job rotation and is responsible for ensuring cross training in all functions in the area. Ensures compliance with South State Holdings, Inc. Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other operating procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage day to day activities of Deposit Operations Exceptions ensuring all functions are performed within the required timeline
- Actively participate in the interviewing, selection and hiring of staff to fill open positions within the exceptions area
- Actively participate in the completion of all performance reviews for supervised staff as well as monthly coaching sessions
- Oversee Deposit Operations Specialists, train new associates, provide feedback as needed, review and approve time sheets
- Manage daily workload by assigning available resources to effectively utilize staff while meeting required deadlines
- Ensure staff is knowledgeable and follow all regulatory requirements for the handling of check payments
- Ensure that all daily work is completed in an accurate and timely manner to prevent/minimize the chance of an operational loss (i.e. late or inaccurate check return, NSF items returned incorrectly, suspect Stop Payment missed, loss of funds due to crediting to customer in error)
- Manage escalation of critical issues within technology or Fiserv
- Assist in problem resolution geared to minimizing customer impact and/or loss to the bank
- Actively participate in all department projects including business process improvement efforts
- Resolve any internal or external customer issues that require escalation
- Responsible for maintaining updated procedures, which will allow for scalable growth
- Assist manager with Audit documentation requests
- Ensure documents are properly scanned and archived, effort to consolidate and streamline paperwork
- Identify operational gaps and work with management on implementing process improvements
- Manage daily work while assisting with projects for system or bank conversions
- Subject matter expert for EIM, TCM, NSF, Missing Work, Account Closures, Stop Payments and EARNS
- Maintain strong working relationship with other departments, such as Contact Center and Consumer, and assist them as needed
- Work with Management to create a training plan and assist with the training and development of all supervised staff.

- Fiserv Premier core system experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite with proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Previous PC experience navigating in a Windows environment and using multiple applications is required.
Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, or suitable equivalent degree in a related field preferred
- Experience: 10 years deposit operations experience with 5 years focused on depository products and operations
- Certifications/Specific Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Reg CC and UCC 3 & 4 is required
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES
- Attain NCP (National Check Professional) accreditation within first two years in position
- Annual Compliance assigned by corporate learning

WORK ENVIRONMENT Example for bank office: This position is located in a cubicle environment that may be loud throughout the day and is inside and cooled and heated facility. If applicable: Telecommuting roles no matter if hybrid or 100% full time telecommuting must have a secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions. They must also have a reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data (hot spot). Cable or fiber connections are preferred.
