Essential Responsibilities * Serve as an on-site anatomic pathologist at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) * Serve as Lead Pathologist for the pathology peer review process for assigned Division of Translational Toxicology (DTT) studies to ensure accuracy and consistency of data. * Interpret and write up pathology findings for DTT publications. * Recommend appropriate procedures when needed (i.e., immunohistochemistry, special stains, electron microscopy, molecular pathology analysis, etc.). * Serve as an expert in rodent toxicology for the DTT and as a consultant for the National Toxicology Program (NTP), international organizations, and other scientists at the NIEHS * Conduct research either independently or in collaboration with other scientists either at the NIEHS or from other institutions. This may include evaluating microscopic slides/digital images, recommending and interpreting results (i.e., immunohistochemistry, special stains, electron microscopy, molecular pathology analysis, artificial intelligence, etc.). * Give presentations on behalf of the NTP/DTT at local, national, and international meetings and participate in workshops per current regulations and needs * Work in multidisciplinary teams and attend meetings, as needed. * Serve as an expert during necropsies, if needed. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications * Education: o D.V.M. from an accredited college of veterinary medicine or the equivalent o Board certified or board eligible , Veterinary Anatomic Pathology (ACVP or ECVP) * Experience: o Experience in experimental/investigative/toxicologic pathology with the NTP/DTT/NIEHS o Successful completion of an NTP/DTT-approved pathology training plan * Skills: o NTP/DTT pathology expertise o Pathology and histology expertise o Excellent communication skills o Computer literate *This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
