Overview

Under the supervision of the Site Manager, assumes the responsibility for supervising the staff in collections at fixed sites and/or mobile sites. Monitors the collection activities to ensure compliance with SOPs. Serves as a resource for donor eligibility and phlebotomy complications. Responsible for meeting projected production goals. Delegates duties to staff. Promotes positive image of CBC to the community. Performs the duties of the Site Manager in their absence.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Supervises blood collections at fixed/mobile sites.
  • Trained on all tasks required of Donor Care Technicians.
  • Functions as a resource for staff in regard to donor criteria and vein suitability.
  • Functions as a resource for donor questions and concerns.
  • Functions as a resource for difficult venipunctures.
  • Reviews QC documentation.
  • Ensures staff compliance with SOPs.
  • Determines job assignments, breaks and meal times for the staff.
  • Coordinates with mobile chairperson and volunteers.
  • Handles or seeks help for emergencies that occur.
  • Ensures compliance with CBC safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of personal information regarding donors and staff.
  • Responds to staffing problems, donor/staff complaints, and counsels donors and staff as needed.
  • Provides written evaluation of staff in regard to performance and compliance with SOPs.
  • Provides documentation when needed regarding staff behavior and/or attendance problems.
  • Promotes customer service and a positive image of CBC to the community.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
  • Responsible for responding to temperature/humidity alarms (as applicable).
  • Responsible for maintaining and reconciling monthly equipment inventory (as applicable).
  • Must be able to confidently communicate and interpret intermediate information in English to all members of the public and staff.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Reviews donor records for accuracy and completion.
  • Serves as a role model for professionalism in manner, appearance and relationships with staff and donors.
  • Communicates with Training Manager and Specialists regarding retraining when staff are not compliant with SOPs or having difficulty performing job duties.
  • Exhibits professionalism in dress, personal grooming and customer service behaviors to portray an excellent CBC image to donors and members of the community.
  • Stays current with all changes.
  • Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned relevant to the position.
  • Maintains professional demeanor and attitude.


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Degree in business or biological science preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Phlebotomy certificate preferred.
  • Current CPR certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.

Experience:

Prefer an individual with at least 12 months experience in:

  • Blood collections
  • Phlebotomy
  • CDC, FDA, AABB and OSHA regulations

Licenses / Certifications

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Knowledge:

  • Excellent knowledge of donor criteria and ithe interview and blood collections procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of vein suitability.
  • Excellent knowledge of blood collection complications and care procedures to follow.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills to successfully communicate with donors, chairpersons, co-workers, and others in the community.
