Our team in Space & Defense is looking for a Tool Design Technical Lead to join them. You will report to the Operations Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY.

The Tool Design Technical Lead will collaborate with the Performance Leader to provide strategic and technical leadership for the Tool Design team within our group. This role will train and mentor a team of a minimum of ten engineers and tool designers, guiding their development and ensuring alignment with operational goals, but will not directly manage them.

As a key member of the Operations Engineering leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing our future-state vision. Your focus will be on driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes while achieving excellence in safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

As a Tool Design Technical Lead, you will:

  • Lead and mentor the Tool Design team, fostering technical growth and collaboration.

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for Tool Design on the production floor and with Engineering.

  • Support process teams in resolving complex manufacturing challenges related to tooling, machining, gauging, heat treatment, plating, and more.

  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts with Design Engineering, Quality Assurance, Materials & Processes Engineering, Purchasing, Scheduling, and external vendors.

  • Monitor and manage project timelines, performance metrics, and non-recurring costs.

  • Identify skill gaps within the team and implement development plans to address them.

  • Promote knowledge sharing and best practices across teams, departments, and Moog locations.

  • Contribute to staffing decisions, performance evaluations, and training initiatives within the department.

To be considered for this role, typically here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.

  • Proven leadership capabilities and a strong technical background in manufacturing processes.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and disciplines.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $80,000.00-$125,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
