Apply to join Color and do the most meaningful work of your career. If you are not sure that you're 100% qualified but are up for the challenge - we want you to apply!
We're hiring a full-stack Staff AI Product Engineer to build new AI-enabled products that improve the way patients and clinicians interact with healthcare. You'll join Color's Cancer Copilot team , a highly collaborative, cross-functional group of engineers, designers, product managers, and clinicians exploring how the latest advances in AI can drive meaningful impact in cancer care.
Cancer presents unique challenges across the healthcare system-fragmented handoffs between providers, complex diagnostic pathways, and emotionally charged decisions for patients and families. It's a moment of high uncertainty and vulnerability for those affected. The Cancer Copilot team is working to improve the efficiency of care delivery, enhancing patient understanding and empowerment, and ultimately helping to improve clinical outcomes. We're building innovative tools that combine the best of human expertise and machine intelligence to support patients and providers through some of the most complex and important decisions in healthcare.
This is an end-to-end role: you'll be responsible for architecting and shipping AI features from idea through to production, including AI infrastructure and platform build, collaborating across disciplines and across the stack to build impactful, intelligent systems.

How You'll Contribute:
  • Design and build AI-powered products that enhance clinical workflows and improve patient experience
  • Product development across the full stack: wiring the front end experience, developing the Python backend, building APIs, and infrastructure design and engineering
  • Collaborate closely with ML engineers to deploy, test, and monitor AI models in production environments
  • Architect privacy- and security-conscious systems that meet healthcare compliance standards
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to quickly prototype and iterate on user-facing AI interactions
  • Attend external partnership meetings, especially with partnering IT teams to establish technical strategy
  • Provide technical leadership across engineering, mentoring others and raising the quality bar
  • Contribute to the direction of our AI and platform engineering strategy
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • 8+ years of industry experience building and scaling complex software systems
  • Strong frontend experience (React or similar), with excellent debugging and UI wiring skills
  • Strong backend and systems development experience (Python, Django, AWS, REST APIs)
  • Experience delivering production-grade AI/ML-enabled features and working with inference pipelines
  • A product mindset with the ability to balance speed, quality, and user impact
  • Ability to navigate through and thrive in the highly ambiguous environments associated with early stage products
  • Experience collaborating with infra, security, and IT stakeholders to build robust systems
  • Proven track record of designing software architecture and contributing across the tech stack
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • A passion for building tools that make healthcare more equitable, efficient, and impactful
Nice to Have:
  • Previous experience building healthcare technology, products or services
  • Familiarity with LLM ecosystems
  • Experience contributing to or building platform infrastructure for reusable services
Possible Projects to Contribute to:
  • Build Cancer Copilot systems that improve efficiency of providers and care teams as patients journey through cancer diagnosis, work-up, treatment, trials, and survivorship.
  • Build patient-facing tools that leverage a combination of AI and clinical expertise to better educate and guide patients through care.
  • Design and launch AI products that integrate into Color Medical's internal operations to improve efficiency and outcomes of Virtual Cancer Care.
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits
  • 401k match
  • Monthly phone and wifi stipend for employees, annual ergonomic stipend
  • Generous vacation policy, paid holidays and company-wide recharge days
  • Equal paid parental leave for birthing and non-birthing parents
  • Free cancer screening and prevention resources for employees and their adult dependents
Base Salary Range: The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: work experience, market data, skills, geographic location, and business need. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
