The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising and developing the Maintenance Team to maintain, improve, and build the manufacturing infrastructure. The Maintenance Department's purpose is to Deliver Great Performance by driving world class equipment reliability.



NOTE: Our factory is a 24/5 operation with some weekends as needed. We are currently hiring for 2nd shift (1:30pm-10:00pm).

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision of the quality of work, responsiveness, and safety of to 10-30 maintenance technicians over 3 shifts
  • Oversees breakdown repairs, preventive and predictive maintenance and root cause analysis
  • Supervises external maintenance contractors
  • Responsible cross-shift communication between salaried supervisors and mechanics across all shifts to ensure 24h continuity
  • Drives execution of inventory processes on off-shifts
  • Ensures all systems are operational, running efficiently, and maintained to reduce downtime
  • Recruits (hire/fire), trains, coaches, recognizes and the crew members
  • Ensures a safety culture where no one gets hurt and that all accidents can be prevented
  • Reviews production schedules and estimates craftsman labor requirements and procedures for completion of job assignments
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and OEM standards
  • Owns the effectiveness of the shift pass down meetings, ensuring a smooth work transition and issues are properly addressed and actioned upon
  • Uses Root Cause Analysis to resolve problems, and/or assists craftsmen in resolving problems to prevent reoccurrences
  • Ensures proper training and upgrades skills of craftsmen on new equipment and/or procedures
  • Holds our employees accountable for the quality of their work and their relationship with their customers; coach and provide performance feedback to employees as necessary
  • Participates in the process improvement teams as a team leader in other Continuous Improvement initiatives as needed

Specific Knowledge & Skills

  • BS/A Degree in and a minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong foundations in maintenance philosophy and approach, such as Reliability Engineering
  • Ability to effectively collaborate on all levels, functions, and departments
  • Supervision of an industrial maintenance team
  • Food or pharmaceutical background preferred; Chocolate experience desired
  • Possess knowledge about EHSS (environmental, health, safety, security) requirements in a food production plant
  • Ability to work effectively in a Union environment
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and CMMS
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Clear oral and written presentation skills



Other Job Requirements



  • Must be able to work seated or standing for at least 8 hours
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs
  • Occasional travel is required
  • Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detail
  • Regular office environment 50%
  • In support of the maintenance team, working in the field is required 50%
  • Conditions in the field include:
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders; must be able to work from heights
  • Exposure to vibration, moving mechanical parts and loud noise
  • Capable of using protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes, hearing protection, air masks, respirators, etc. in the performance of job duties
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and will be exposed to heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, confined spaces, elevated areas, dirt, ash particles and fuel particles
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Must be able to kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required
