Quality Program Coordinator
Job Summary Applies skills and experience as a seasoned quality data and / or improvement (QI) specialist to projects of medium size at all levels of complexity, or to portions of large projects. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $100,300 - $150,500 (Annual Rate). Department Description BCH Quality & Safety consists of Quality Improvement, Patient Safety and BCH-Oakland Infection Prevention. The role of the department is to support the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals (BCH) to deliver safe, equitable and high-quality care to the communities we serve.
BCH Quality Improvement is a division within BCH Quality & Safety. The focus of BCH QI is to provide improvement, program development, quality data, and external reporting expertise to the pediatric inpatient and outpatient enterprises. The team is made up of individuals with clinical and non-clinical backgrounds, with skillsets in clinical quality improvement project facilitation, program and project management, data analysis and interpretation, and data abstraction, and collaborates with individuals across the broader UCSF organization to accomplish shared goals.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in an intensive care setting in pediatric facility.
- Bachelor's degree
- Advanced interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with all levels of clinical and technical staff and representatives of external agencies.
- Knowledge of MS Office software programs or equivalents. Ability to run analytical (MS Excel and other) reports and summarize information.
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, to quickly assess complex problems, and to develop and implement timely and effective solutions.
- Strong skills required to effectively convey complex clinical and technical information both verbally and in writing and to produce high quality reports and documentation.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent judgment in attention to process and detail, and follow up on relevant clinical issues.
- Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
- Brings an improvement mindset to day-to-day work, by thoughtfully challenging the status quo and seeking to improve own work and collaborate with others to improve their work
- Detail oriented, with proven ability to effectively manage time, see projects through to completion, organize competing priorities, and effectively address complex, urgent issues as they arise
- Familiarity with EPIC and navigating electronic medical records
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of QI standards, clinical chart review and abstraction, and regulatory requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of QI models, measurement tools, and techniques, including collection, aggregation, abstraction, validation, analysis, and reporting of data.
- Ability to analyze data using statistical tools, such as hypothesis testing or statistical process control charts, and communicate the meaning to others.
License/Certification
- Licensed healthcare provider (RN, RCP or MD only)
