Facilities Technician 2 Position Summary

The Facilities Technician 2 is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, fabrication, and improvement tasks to ensure the plant's infrastructure, equipment, and work areas remain safe, functional, and well-organized. This role requires a self-directed individual with strong fabrication and welding skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision. The technician will support 5S initiatives, building upkeep, and small facility upgrades while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Facilities Technician 2 Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• 5S & Workplace Organization




• Implement and support 5S initiatives throughout the plant, including organizing work areas, updating signage, applying labels, and maintaining visual management systems.




• Facility Maintenance




• Perform general building upkeep, including interior/exterior painting, wall and floor repairs, light carpentry, and surface touch-ups.
• Support small construction or layout changes such as installing shelving, workstations, or safety barriers.
• Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of common areas, breakrooms, bathrooms, and office spaces.




• Fabrication & Equipment Work




• Utilize welding and fabrication skills to support plant maintenance and improvement projects.
• Read and interpret basic prints to complete fabrication and repair tasks accurately.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and floor scrubbers (certification required or must be willing to obtain).
• Learn and perform floor grinding as needed for maintenance or improvement projects.
• Operate a Hotsy or similar equipment cleaning system after training.




• Safety & Compliance




• Report safety concerns, facility issues, or needed repairs promptly to supervisor and/or safety department immediately.
• Maintain records of projects, materials used, and completion timelines.
• Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and compliance standards.




• Vendor & Communication Support




• Communicate effectively with supervisors, leadership, and team members to prioritize and complete tasks.




• Other




• Support CI and 5S, as well as other facilities tasks as need.
• Other duties as assigned.

Facilities Technician 2 Qualifications

Required:

• Ability to work and stay on task independently or with minimal supervision.
• Already certified, or willing to be certified, on forklift, scissor lift, and floor scrubber.
• Basic print reading skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written communication
• Fabrication and welding experience; TIG welding certification preferred, if not, must have the ability to certify.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Willingness to be trained on floor grinding and Hotsy equipment cleaning.

Preferred:

• Experience with facility maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge and understanding of 5S and continuous improvement principles.
• Light carpentry or construction experience.

Facilities Technician 2 Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to work at heights using lifts or ladders.
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and work in various positions for extended periods.
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments in varying temperatures.

Facilities Technician 2 Work Environment

• This position works in a manufacturing and maintenance environment with exposure to noise, dust, and industrial equipment.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
