$65,000 - $85,000/yr dependent on qualifications and experience

Position Summary:
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the safe and efficient transportation of students. Additionally, the Transportation Coordinator will provide assistance to the Supervisor of Transportation, Principals, and Assistant Principals in the administration with particular focus on student behavior management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Bachelors Degree or Associates Degree with five years of related work experience
- Know and be able to apply legal mandates, policies, regulations and operational procedures pertaining to student discipline.
- Possess human relations strategies, conflict resolution strategies and team building principles and techniques.
- Ability to recognize areas of concern and propose or recommend appropriate solutions to problems.
Preferred
- Class B CDL Minnesota Drivers License
- Routing and Mapping experience
- Bilingual preferred, Somali or Spanish
- Behavioral management experience in a school setting
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Supports behavior management of students in buses, bus stops, and bus loading areas; handles day-to-day functions of discipline
- Supports bus safety and discipline by proactively discussing problems with bus drivers, parents, students, and administrators
- Supports and furthers the district-wide Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) system incorporating proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting desired student behavior and establish a climate in which appropriate behavior is the norm
- Works effectively with special education case managers related to discipline and transportation issues related to students with special needs
- Assists with developing and preparing bus incident reports for submission to administration
- Serves as resource for bus drivers in the area of PBIS and discipline
- Collaborates with administrative teams to execute student management plans including procedures for conflict management, restitution, suspension, dismissal, and re-entry of students
- Coordinates the training and re-training program for all district employed bus drivers, including training of prospective drivers and special education bus assistants
- Coordinates extracurricular travel for teams/groups by assigning drivers and vehicles
- Provides customer service to parents and school staff regarding transportation of new students or students moving into District 742
- Responds to parent concerns on an as-needed basis
- Solves issues such as overcrowding on busses or balancing loads to meet bell schedules
- Reviews bus stop requests and process approved or defined requests
- Assists with special projects to analyze changes in bell schedules and school zone attendance boundaries
- Other duties as assigned
