Staff Software Engineer

What you will be doing:

The Staff Software Engineer develops information systems by designing, developing, and installing software solutions. This position will design, code, repair, enhance, integrate, upgrade, convert, provide level-3 support, and administer application software, and middleware. Work is performed within guidelines and standards set by management regarding the development life cycle, version control, source code control, documentation, testing, code verification, continuous integration, continuous deployment, automation, compliance policies and team collaboration.

This level of software engineer will be the software concepts, procedures and best practices SME. In addition, they will work on all stories independently without supervision as well as be able to design complex solutions. They will be able to take ownership on new initiatives delegated through management. They will step in for Manager as needed and facilitate the leadership of the team. Domain knowledge is critical to this role and the intangibles associated with the product needs. Will also provide mentorship/coaching to lower level software engineers. They update their job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations.

This position collaborates with Project Management, QA, Security, collaborative groups/clients and other cross-functional teams to define, provide for, and test deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development - 70%

Planning, analyzing, and directing the coding and testing

Provide guidance and direction on development approach for coding - review, analyze and meet with business analyst to fully understand requirement

Provide guidance and direction on the development of the data approach for coding - Understand data guidelines, and understand data sources available, what is new based on requirements, and how the project will impact common data stores

Lead - 20%

Provide day to day guidance to Associate Software Engineering team and collaborate with core team, QA, Security, and other cross functional teams to provide the appropriate solution

Team Mentoring, Directing, and Priority setting

Provide SME on application and data to other teams; find ways to prevent ad-hoc reporting

Professional Development - 10%

Stays current with industry trends in domain best practices, healthcare, software delivery and technology; demonstrates self-mastery

Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 4 or more years

Education:

Bachelors (Required)

Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

Working Conditions: Remote Travel Requirements: No travel required Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Premier's compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier's internal salary range for this role is $113,000 - $188,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
