Position Summary:
As a Level 3 Interior Architect at HED, you support the successful integration of architecture and interior design with growing autonomy and design leadership. In this role, you bring a rigorous technical understanding of building systems together with creative problem-solving to shape holistic, high-performing environments. You contribute across project phases and collaborate deeply with architectural and engineering teams to ensure design integrity from concept through execution. You are a resourceful and inquisitive designer committed to HED's values of integration, innovation, and design excellence.
Essential Functions:
- Lead interior architectural components of projects through schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
- Integrate architectural elements, detailing, and space planning with building systems and codes.
- Translate design concepts into fully coordinated interior architectural solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-discipline teams including architects, engineers, interior designers, and consultants.
- Prepare high-quality technical documentation using Revit, including construction details, finish plans, and millwork drawings.
- Conduct product research and participate in material selection with attention to sustainability, durability, and aesthetics.
- Attend and contribute to client and team meetings, including design reviews and coordination sessions.
- Support junior team members and contribute to a culture of mentorship and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in QA/QC and peer review processes to support consistent design quality.
- Maintain awareness of trends in workplace, learning, healthcare, and living environments as relevant to interior architecture.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture or related field from a NAAB- or CIDA-accredited program.
- Minimum 4-7 years of professional experience in architecture or interior architecture.
- Strong proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of Enscape, Rhino, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Familiarity with applicable building codes, ADA, and interior detailing standards.
- Ability to interpret design concepts into technical solutions.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills.
- Architectural Licensure or NCIDQ certification required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in person.
- Must be able to perform site visits.
- Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
