Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Cybersecurity Engineer to support the PEO Missiles and Space, Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:



  • Provide accurate technical evaluations of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) equipment, software applications, full systems, and networks, documenting the security posture, capabilities, and vulnerabilities against applicable NIST controls.
  • Select and implement security controls, ensure timely completion of accreditation packages, formulate and implement mitigations, and maintain the security posture of systems.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate system security threats/risks throughout the system lifecycle; validate system security requirements; and lead system certification and accreditation activities including planning, testing, assessing, and coordinating.
  • Monitor and evaluate systems for compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) security, resilience, and dependability requirements including performing validation steps and analyzing differences to identify impacts and risks.
  • Support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process for tactical systems.
  • Provide technical solutions and ensure continued system functionality within the DoD RMF framework.
  • Lead cybersecurity process and tool improvements across the organization.
  • Perform additional cybersecurity engineering duties as assigned.



Required Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
  • 3 to 10 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, information assurance, or a related field.
  • Experience implementing and evaluating DoD STIG requirements, NIST RMF, IAVMs, and cybersecurity assessment tools such as ACAS, Nessus, SCC, and STIG Viewer.
  • Working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process and NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
  • Experience with Security Control Assessor-Validator (SCA-V) activities.
  • Familiarity with Confluence and Jira platforms.
  • Knowledge of information system architectures and cybersecurity standards.
  • Sec+ or higher-level certification (CISSP, CASP+, etc.).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Experience in a Department of Defense cybersecurity environment.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment supporting a diverse customer base of engineers, analysts, and program managers.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks.
