Job Overview

The School Teacher II provides teaching, consultation, and advocacy support services to children in an inpatient setting. The School Teacher II creates, organizes, and provides educational programming to patients. The School Teacher II completes and maintains the Career Advancement Program (CAP), demonstrating both excellence in job performance and on-going contributions in service, education and research, and professional development and leadership.

Duties & Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE
Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs
School age - >5yrs to 13yrs
Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs
Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Completes case management activities consistent with department quality assurance and quality improvement standards.
2. Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other educational institutions, and other providers to ensure the continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services. All interactions are non-judgmental and based on mutual respect.
3. Demonstrates leadership and participates in systematic, planned professional development to improve the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy goals of the department and hospital.
4. Provides developmentally appropriate teaching and intervention services consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice and department quality assurance standards. Teacher incorporates principles of cultural competence and family-centered care into clinical services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees
    • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Area of Study

  • Experience
    • Three years pediatric experience in a hospital, rehabilitation, or school setting; experience with educational accommodations for children with a variety of medical needs.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Special education background and/or lead for multi-tiered system of supports
    • 5 years of teaching experience in public school
    • Experience with CLDE (culturally linguistic diverse education) curriculum Team player, motivated, strong work ethic
    • Specialized in Art/music/PE/technology/dual languages- would be a plus!
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • State of Colorado Department of Education Teacher's License.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $63,317.59 to $94,976.38
