The Training and Competency Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the effective delivery, documentation and continuous improvement of training programs across Oceaneering Marine Service Division (MSD). This includes implementing standardized training processes, maintaining training facilities/materials/equipment, ensuring consistency in training delivery and the accurate upkeep of training records. The role also optimizes the use of third-party training resources.

This is a U.S.-based office position located in Chesapeake, Virginia.


Duties And Responsibilities

TRAINING ADMINISTRATION:

  • Coordinate and communicate training schedules, ensuring alignment with operational needs and employee qualification requirements.
  • Assist in scheduling and conducting internal and external training courses, including third-party programs.
  • Provide ongoing support to Training Manager in the execution of training and competency initiatives.
  • Track and issue timely notification to employees through their assigned Resource Manager when periodic training re-qualification is required.
  • Maintain an OII-MSD employee data base showing training, qualification and certification of each employee including periodicity of training.
  • Develop, deliver and track bi-weekly Tool Box Training

LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND DATA MANAGEMENT:

  • Maintain accurate training records by uploading and updating employee data in the LMS and/or other required databases.
  • Build, run and analyze training reports: manage data entry and maintain the local training calendar with the LMS.
  • Administer and evaluate performance data to assess the effectiveness of instructional systems, courses, and materials.

CONTENT AND PROCESS STANDARDIZATION:

  • Collaborate with development and training teams to ensure consistency in training documentation and identify opportunities for content reuse.
  • Establish and maintain a data base of examination test questions to be used in the various qualification validation/certification processes.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT:

  • Support the verification of employee training requirements and qualification to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support organizational objectives.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience providing administrative/coordinator support to large-scale programs and/or organizations with at least 200 employees.
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and report generation tools.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience with data entry and record maintenance.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Education, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms (such as SumTotal, Oracle, Learn Share or similar systems) to capture, track, and report on training milestones and metrics.
  • Prior experience in an industrial or military training environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of appropriate steps to analytical problem solving.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals.
  • Knowledge of department's policies, rules, regulations, business goals, vision, organizational structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles and values, etc.
  • Ability to establish and maintain project priorities.
  • Ability to work with other departments to determine updated training requirements.
