Job Description
The Opportunity: The Human Resources (HR) team is seeking an HR Partner to support the leadership initiatives of both the Human Resources department and the Daytona Beach Flight Department by providing expert guidance on a variety of employment-related topics. Serving as the first point of contact for Instructor Pilots, Training Managers, Aviation Mechanics, and the College of Aviation, the HR Partner plays a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture. In this role, the HR Partner will work closely with colleagues across the HR department to collaborate on employee relations and engagement activities, ensuring consistent and effective support for employees. Core responsibilities include employee engagement, recruitment, retention, succession planning, and performance management. The HR Partner will also assist HR leadership in managing the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for Flight Instructors and address routine inquiries regarding benefits, personal leave, timekeeping, disability, accommodations, Workers' Compensation, and related topics. Responsibilities also include the following: Recruiting - Assist with recruiting efforts in Flight and related departments at the Daytona Beach campus. Recruiting consists of posting positions, reviewing candidates, interviewing, and making recommendations. The process consists of completing criminal background checks, professional reference checks and drug screening and tracking results. Immigration - Support immigration initiatives for the flight department. Verify immigration authorization for compliance with the Bureau of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Department of Labor (DOL.) Work with the HR immigration specialist, the Department of International Student & Scholar Services and immigration attorneys in securing visas for international applicants and current staff. Work directly with foreign nationals to assist with their immigration questions such as determining OPT requirements, applying for H-1B visas and extensions, green card applications, timelines, costs, etc. Flight and Related Departments - Provide HR guidance to Flight Training, aviation maintenance, and the College of Aviation as a whole. This position supports many recent college graduates and requires a high level of customer service aptitude. Assists with management of the CBA for the collective bargaining unit; interprets and administers articles of said contract; consult with collective bargaining unit members and officers, resolves labor relations issues and disputes; and assists with contract negotiations every three years. Employment - Assists with employee relations for the Flight Department to include - resolving conflict, answering questions, listening to feedback and conducting exit interviews, providing guidance on performance evaluations and improvement plans, position descriptions, job changes and promotions, developmental opportunities, coaching, disciplinary action, exit interviews and terminations. Proactively focuses on continuous improvement for departmental and university processes.
