Staff Job Summary

The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Manager is a leadership position responsible for overseeing and supporting the TSI programs and other initiatives at Dallas College. This role ensures institutional compliance with all regulations and requirements regarding TSI as mandated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The TSI Manager serves as the primary lead for compliance reports, score interpretations, and serves as a TSI expertise lead related to exemptions, waivers, compliance, prerequisites and other policies and practices impacting students, while working collaboratively with various internal and external partners. This position will provide direct support and respond to information requests from students, faculty, and staff regarding TSI regulations, prerequisites, and other policies and practices. The TSI Manager will also supervise full-time TSI employees and serve as the primary lead for TSI-related work and compliance. Additionally, this role will be assigned special projects related based on needs within the student success division as appropriate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of TSI policies, procedures, and related reports.

  • Demonstrated experience with implementing Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board TSI policies.

  • Understanding of TSI requirements and compliance regulations as set by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Workday and other related systems.

  • Proficiency in programming and managing student information systems, including creating, updating, and analyzing reports related to TSI compliance.

  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.

  • Knowledge of Dallas College certificates, programs and degrees.

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff regarding TSI policies and procedures.

  • Capability to coordinate corrective efforts for TSI error reports and address compliance issues effectively.

  • Ability to manage special projects aligned with academic and student success initiatives within the student success division.

  • Demonstrated general knowledge of baseline financial aid and FAFSA information.

  • Knowledge of Dallas College, State and Federal policies and procedures impacting service to students (FERPA, TSI-A, Dallas College Board Policies, Title IX, etc.)

  • Ability to leverage emerging technology to track and monitor student progress towards completion goals.

  • Demonstrated experience preparing concise and clear written and verbal reports detailing case management activity and outcomes.

  • Ability to assist students in identify and navigating barriers that impact retention, persistence completion, and success.

  • Demonstrates and able to apply contemporary research which underpins high impact coaching, advising, and student success strategies.

  • Demonstrated strong commitment to shared accountability and high-quality customer service and care.

  • Demonstrated experience effectively supervising staff.

  • Be familiar with relevant national policies, practices and legislation that relates to retention, success coaching, and pathway development and support.

  • Responds appropriately to issues in a dynamic rapidly changing educational/economic environment.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of emerging technologies and the effective application of service technologies to enhance student academic planning, tracking, and engagement with internal and external resources and supports.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in higher education, student development, community college leadership or related field as confirmed by official transcripts.

  • Master's degree and supervisory experience preferred.

  • Minimum two (3) years of related TSI experience or three (3) years of experience in academic advising, admissions, success coaching, first-year experience, or retention within student services or higher education.

  • Official transcript will be required.

  • Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serves as the success coaching TSI liaison and primary lead for TSI compliance.

  • Supervises TSI employees, providing guidance and support in their roles.

  • Leads prerequisite oversight efforts for general courses.

  • Leads special projects that impact the student journey.

  • Monitors student TSI compliance by programming the student information system database, creating, updating, and analyzing reports, auditing student compliance status, and running hold programs.

  • Develops and facilitates TSI and other related trainings.

  • Uses diagnostic Texas Success Initiatives (TSI) data to provide targeted interventions to students who do not meet college readiness standards in the subjects of reading, writing, and/or mathematics.

  • Leads corrective efforts for TSI error reports.

  • Develops TSI preparation material or utilize existing reading, writing, and/or mathematics preparation resources.

  • Provides reports regarding student performance related to TSI Academics.

  • Develops and maintains the student TSI database.

  • Interprets and implements rules, policies, and procedures in accordance with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), ACCUPLACER, and Dallas College.

  • Maintains database and files on TSI policies and procedures and activities associated with the TSI program.

  • Coordinates information gathering and dissemination with departments involved in TSI implementation.

  • Works collaboratively with faculty and staff involved in developmental education and co-requisite programs

  • Provides direct support, communicates with students, and responds to information. requests from students, faculty and staff regarding TSI regulations and policies.

  • May support a small caseload of assigned students related to TSI.

  • Complete required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
