Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for multiple Shift Managers Maintenance at our East Chicago, Indiana operation. The Shift Manager will lead and coordinate maintenance operations during assigned shifts. This front-line supervisory role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable mechanical or electrical maintenance activities to support production goals and continuous improvement.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct hourly employees.
  • Assign manpower and equipment as necessary to repair and upgrade mill equipment.
  • Direct both planned preventative maintenance activities and work through equipment breakdown scenarios.
  • Implement the safety program's goals to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Identify problem(s), gather the appropriate information, and analyze effectively.
  • Promote teamwork and clear communication among team members.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to resolve equipment issues and optimize performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, job plans, inventory usage, and cost tracking.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from an accredited school.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • At least 2 years of heavy industry, manufacturing, or military experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in a union environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in maintenance and mobile equipment repair.
