As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and mission-driven Prospect Research Analyst to join its dynamic Advancement team. The Prospect Research Analyst will promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by being responsible for identifying, researching, and analyzing potential donors to support strategic fundraising efforts, particularly in the areas of parent giving, major gifts, planned giving, and campaign initiatives. The ideal candidate is passionate about data-driven decision making and eager to help advance the university's Catholic and Franciscan values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on individuals, corporations, and foundations using online databases and public sources
  • Analyze and synthesize data into actionable insights and donor profiles for frontline fundraisers
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date constituent records in the CRM (Raiser's Edge) and work with Advancement operations team on data imports and exports
  • Develop customized research strategies for fundraising campaigns, donor cultivation, and stewardship
  • Monitor news, trends, and philanthropic activity related to prospects and donors
  • Collaborate closely with gift officers to identify high-potential prospects
  • * Uphold ethical standards and data privacy when handling confidential information
  • * Support wealth screening initiatives and manage prospect rating tools


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree preferred, experience in research, data analytics, or nonprofit management a plus
  • 2-4 years of experience in prospect research or advancement analytics in higher education or nonprofit sectors
  • Familiarity with prospecting tools (e.g. iWave, DonorSearch, WealthEngine) and CRM systems
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and writing skills and the ability to approach work through the lens of frontline fundraising
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
