JOB DIMENSIONS

Direct responsibility for all financial aspects of multiple manufacturing facilities, tollers and warehouses, in particular:

  • Mobile plant
  • North Kansas City plant
  • PEKK King of Prussia, PA

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

45% - Provide financial leadership to the manufacturing plant for the following:

    • Provide financial leadership, cost control and support to all levels of plant and corporate management by providing timely and accurate reporting and analysis for actual results, budget and forecast needs concerning plant financial data. Provide trend, key data, and statistical or other ad-hoc analyses as requested. Update plant and corporate management regularly to ensure that any significant financial issues or areas for concern are raised and addressed timely.
    • Control all plant financial functions pertaining to inventory and the production operation in order to accurately state the plants financial position. Provide support and guidance to the plant staff to ensure that the "true" cost to manufacture products is captured and controlled; actively control the Bill of Materials via regular review and maintenance, absorption rates and methodologies verified, costing updated as needed.
    • Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the monthly close including an understanding of all plant variances, impacts of inventory counts on results and cost center charges. Provide support to production in the analysis of these variances and in the development of product costs.
    • Involved actively in plant operations to observe and control the financial impact of plant activities along with results; provide recommendations to improve performance and enhance strategic decisions. Advise and provide guidance to plant staff on the management of plant spending.
    • Safeguard the plant assets by maintaining accurate plant balance sheets and reconciling timely. This includes physical observation of inventory and fixed assets, as required by company policy. Ensure that any required adjustments are recorded timely or communicated to Business Operations Accounting if a manual journal entry is required. Coordinate with project managers and Business Operations Accounting to ensure capital projects are capitalized timely and depreciated appropriately by the Business Operations Accounting team.
    • Ensure compliance with sales/use tax and property tax activities. Develop and implement systems to ensure prompt and accurate audit completion. Assist in internal and external audits.
    • Support plant safety goals and objectives.

25% - Responsible to support the FP&A operations related to the PEKK business unit in the United States, under the direction of the Finance & Strategy Director, Specialty Polyamides.

    • Ensure the integrity of the accounting contained in the financials: establish and implement control processes that will guarantee 100% compliance with all internal and external accounting policies and procedures.
    • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of the monthly income statements and other financial reporting.
    • Supervise the analysis of cost center activities.
    • Safeguard the business' assets by maintaining accurate balance sheets and reconciliation.
    • Provide any recurring or ad-hoc analysis required to maintain accurate books of record and meet audit requirements

15% - Provide Financial support to all Business Partners (Finance, Manufacturing, Business) of the Coating Resins/PEKK/PMC group.

    • Partner with the Finance Managers to provide meaningful analysis of the business to the business team by explaining financial results, evaluating new projects, preparing ad hoc analysis and participating in other initiatives to define and improve business profitability.
    • Provide solutions to assist business on ways to improve financial performance not just score keeping.
    • Provide and drive the process to ensure accurate and timely FLASH results, on a monthly basis
    • Understand and provide accounting expertise related to complex business contracts and the impact on the financial results. Manages relationship with PMC leaders on reporting cost variances within our allowed contract terms.
    • This individual is responsible for understanding the nuances of the site services agreement in order to lead any audit request from the 3rd party partner PMC.
    • Be a valued member of the business management team, able to utilize detailed knowledge of SAP, RPE and production costs to support strategic initiatives.

15% - Organize, develop and manage plants' annual budget activities (variable and fixed costs), to include total cost to manufacture. Validate appropriateness of allocation of costs to produced products/multiple BU's/Site Contractor PMC.

    • Manage the complexity of the Mobile site structure including multiple BU's, Onsite Contractor (Site Services Agreement) through the budgetary process. This entails developing a highly complex indirect cost allocation structure that is unique to this site. Manage this process within multiple BU timelines/deadlines.
    • Determine total employee costs with a high level of confidentiality across all business areas; CR Direct, PEKK Direct, PMC Direct, Indirect support cost centers.
    • Develop cost allocation methodologies across all business areas; CR Direct, PEKK Direct, PMC Direct, Indirect support cost centers.

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Travel estimated at 10-15%
  • Requires working additional hours outside of normal work day/work week to meet certain deadlines throughout the year
  • Serving various internal customers' needs including, Plant, Finance, and Business Management, without compromising the integrity or timeliness of accounting responsibilities
  • Ensuring the continuity of the financial close and high quality standards at all locations
  • Ensuring that all financial data for the business is accurate and timely reported to all customers
  • Successfully handling the workload relative to the available resources
  • Continuing to add value to the business
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents

REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Seven (7) or more years of progressive accounting experience with focus on financial controlling
  • In Depth knowledge of general accounting principles, focus on cost accounting preferred
  • Some experience in a manufacturing environment; process manufacturing a plus
  • Experience using SAP or other ERP system a plus
  • Requires expert knowledge of MS Excel; BW Power user preferred
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
