The Position Systems Engineer

Summary

You will join the Advanced Systems Engineering (ASE) team within Pathology Lab Research & Early Development (PLRED) Chapter of Roche Diagnostics, where you will participate in a cross-functional agile team, focused on one of our major research programs. You will support technology feasibility studies, prototyping and evaluation of performance and risk for new product concepts, primarily in thePathology Lab business area.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for designing, planning and executing research experiments on novel technologies, including hands-on troubleshooting of complex prototype systems.
  • You will collaborate and communicate with stakeholders and SMEs to develop, negotiate and document requirements, present research findings and provide technical recommendations.
  • Your primary responsibilities will also typically include software/algorithm prototyping, data acquisition/preparation/cleaning and developing/deploying/refining machine learning models.

Who You Are

Required: BS degree or equivalent in a directly related discipline required plus 4 years of related experience.

Preferred: MS degree in a directly related discipline + 2 years of related experience required OR

PhD degree in a directly related discipline and no experience required.

As our programs typically include mechanical, optical, software, algorithmandassay elements, a background in system engineering is preferred to effectively understand and integrate these diverse elements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency, engineering creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and concepts.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Passionate about teamwork and technical problem-solving and has a track record of delivering innovative solutions and novel IP, ideally in tissue diagnostics.
  • Broad set of technical skills, with demonstrated capability in systems engineering, software prototyping and machine learning, and both the ability and desire to rapidly learn new skills as required by our research.

Relocation benefits are not available for this position.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Arizona is $72,800.00 - $100,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
