Summary

In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan's core purpose and core values, the Triage Coordinator (TC) is notified of all ventilated organ and tissue referrals and facilitates communication between Gift of Life Michigan and referral hospitals, assesses donor suitability in conjunction with Clinical Administrator, maintains personnel dispatching, and oversees authorized organ donor cases.

Duties & Responsibilities

The following job duties and responsibilities are stated in broad terms and not intended to be inclusive.



  • Oversee donor/referral case activities utilizing the organizational dashboard.
  • Assess vented referrals for donation potential and complete Electronic Medical Record (EMR) review of potential organ/tissue referrals completed by onsite GOLM staff.
  • Coordinate resources, including needs for staff utilization, to ensure timely responses on all active referrals and active donor cases.
  • Perform a search of the donor registry(ies) for documentation of the patient's decision to donate.
  • Consult with Clinical Administrator for assessment of donor suitability.
  • Lead conference calls for potential donors and active donor cases as it pertains to organ allocation, surgical center transfers, and other donor related activities.
  • Perform remote verification of Transnet labels and recipient verification in concert with designated staff members.
  • Accurately document all required information into Gift of Life's EMR including coding, imminent and eligible outcomes.
  • Initiate authorization or pause conversation with family/staff related to organ, tissue, and eye donation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Required:



  • Registered nurse, paramedic, or other healthcare training with at least 18 months of Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) experience.


Preferred:



  • Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) Certification.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare organization, transplant center, or organ/tissue procurement organization.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)



  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook and Teams and other technology systems used in business operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage task or project assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Concentrate and function with frequent distractions and interruptions.
  • Focus on work details for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
