Facilities Maintenance Technician IV/Lead

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Facilities Maintenance Technician IV/Lead to support Facilities Operations & Maintenance (O&M) our government customer located in NORCO, CA.

This individual is responsible for planning and executing complex facilities maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, heating and cooling, space planning and execution and other building systems at a highly proficient level.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.

  • Troubleshoots major facility related issues to determine necessary repairs.

  • Plans repair work using building's blueprints or equipment manuals as needed.

  • Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.

  • Performs maintenance and repairs that require a specialized technician.

  • Construct, repairs, modifies, and maintains buildings, parts of building, sheds, docks, and temporary structures.

  • Proficient at performing facility repair work to include complex carpentry work, plumbing repairs, drywall repairs, painting, changing light bulbs, adjusting doors and locks and other similar repairs as required.

  • Assists other trades in performing preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities systems such as filter replacement, belt replacement, basic pump repairs, inspections etc., as required.

  • Proficient in completion of facilities related projects and equipment and system repairs as required.

  • Proficient in the planning and installation of new equipment and systems as required.

  • Proficient at space planning and execution.

  • Manages all space and furniture move requests from the government.

  • Documents and maintain all space planning, relocation records and requests and ensures they are entered into the ARCHIBUS database.

  • Directs other Facility Maintenance Technicians when executing space planning and furniture moves and relocations.

  • Respond to all types of emergency situations, water, electrical, wind, storm, etc.

  • Proficient at repairing, modifying or building shelves crates, benches, furniture, and cabinets.

  • Proficient at measuring, laying out, or machine cuts wood, tile, plastics, and other materials.

  • Proficient at constructing forms, batter boards, sub-bases, and screeds for concrete work.

  • Proficient at finishing concrete masonry, and grouting.

  • Proficient at repairing and patching drywall, and painting.

  • Constructs and/or maintains signs, monuments, and set-in-place flagpoles.

  • Demonstrates proficiency when operating all types of power and hand woodworking tools, paint sprayers, concrete mixers, and forklifts.

  • Performs routine maintenance of building mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years' experience in facility maintenance.

  • Highly skilled in the use of hand and power tools.

  • Ability to understand and follow directions.

  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and schematics.

  • Ability to lead and work unsupervised when completing work assignments.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and safely with others on common projects.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook at a proficient level.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Seven (7) years' experience in maintenance of military facilities.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available and able to respond to emergency call-ins when required.

  • Must pass an annual "Fit for Duty" physical and meet all the necessary medical requirements to wear all types of respirators and perform the physical requirements of the job.

  • Must pass the required respirator fit test and maintain the requirement.

  • Must be physically able to climb all types of ladders, a-frame, vertical, extension etc.

  • Must be physically able to climb up on and maneuver on raised walkways and platforms with limited access.

  • Must be able to work in various types of confined spaces.

  • Must be physically able to move 55-gallon drums with the assistance of mechanical means.

  • May be assigned other collateral duties as required.

ENVIROMENTAL FACTORS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Environmental Factors: Works in indoor and outdoor environments that contain excessive heat, cold and humidity, excessive dampness, electrical energy, dust, fumes, solvents grease, oils, moving machinery with moving parts, moving object or vehicles and slippery or uneven surfaces.

  • Physical Effort: Works from ground level, ladders, and platforms on equipment and systems where parts are hard-to-reach. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally over fifty pounds. Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and stretching for prolonged periods will be necessary.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
