Carnegie Mellon University's department of Facilities Management is searching for a Plumber. This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in an interesting work environment. Reporting to the FMS Supervisor, you will provide support for plumbing needs throughout the CMU campus. Core responsibilities will include:
Repair and maintain all support equipment associated with compressed air, water, sewage and gas systems. Identifies, analyzes, troubleshoot, and diagnoses all aspects of plumbing systems. Lay out and install standard waste, water and compressed air systems working from drawings, sketches, or oral or written instructions. Perform inspections of plumbing systems and conduct backflow testing. Performs preventive maintenance. Skilled to install pipes, fixtures and other plumbing materials. Install, repair, and maintain domestic and laboratory plumbing fixtures. Repair or replace broken drainage lines, clogged drains, faucets, etc. Requisition job parts and supplies. Maintain clean, safe shop area. Uses power tools and smartphones. Documents work by completing electronic work orders on each job. Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to pass a physical exam for clearance to wear a respirator when/if working near hazardous environments.
Qualifications: Plumber I:
High School diploma or GED required Graduation from a trade school or apprenticeship program as journeyman plumber required Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a journeyman level plumber required, with experience in a large institution (college, university, hospital, etc.) setting preferred.
Plumber II: In addition to the above associated requirements for Plumber I, to advance to the Plumber II level requires the following additional certifications and experience:
Minimum of four (4) years' experience as a journeyman level plumberrequired, with experience in a large institutional (college, university, hospital, etc.) setting preferred. Allegheny County Master Plumber's License required ASSE Backflow Certification required Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification required
Requirements:
Successful Background Check Motor Vehicle Records (conducted annually) Pre-employment drug and alcohol screen Fitness for duty assessment and pre-employment medical exam Child Protective Clearance - Act 153 Valid PA driver's license
