PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE SUPERVISOR II-MET LAB
- Supervise laboratory practices, procedures, and processes.
- Manage, direct, and coordinate the efforts of Receiving, Data Analysis, Macroetch (DI), Metallographic Inspection, or Mechanical and Magnetic Testing in compliance with industry specifications, ensuring cost-effectiveness and customer support (internal and external).
- Ensure equipment maintenance and the safety of laboratory users; coordinate schedules and activities.
- Interface with internal technical personnel, customers, and outside quality governing bodies to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Coordinate procurement of supplies and services, including outside laboratory testing when required.
- Write, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support testing methods in assigned areas.
- Maintain calibration of equipment required to perform testing per specifications outlined in SOPs.
- Supervise group leaders and lab employees; provide coaching and mentoring to develop the team and achieve departmental goals. Serve in a leadership role in lieu of the manager as needed, including in personnel actions such as hiring, performance reviews, and disciplinary measures.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SUPERVISOR II-MET LAB
- High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or Metallurgy preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in a metallurgical or quality lab.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience required; 3+ years preferred.
