Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an F-15 FMS Avionics Engineer (Principal/SME) located at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH working with the Air Force Division.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Expert knowledge, experience and recognized ability to be considered an industry leader in their technical/professional field.
  • Typically performs the following kinds of functions: initiates, oversees, and/or develops requirements from a project's inception to conclusion for complex to extremely complex programs; provides strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to program and project staff; provides detailed analyses, evaluations, and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for client-specific or mission critical challenges/issues; consults with client to define needs or problems; oversees studies; and leads surveys to collect and analyze data to provide advice and recommend solutions.
  • Possesses the ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior, journeyman, and senior contractor personnel within and across multiple technical/professional disciplines.

EDUCATION:

  • BS and 25 years of experience, 15 of which must be in the DoD; or
  • MS and 20 years of experience, 12 of which must be in the DoD; and
  • an ABET-accredited BS or MS degree in engineering

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Leadership experience in wide/varied operational and test organizations and fighter/bomber platforms; operational experience as a pilot or weapons system operator in a test environment; 4th generation fighter aircraft, systems, and subsystems familiarity; the ability to travel frequently for program reviews and/or site visits; and other airframe, system and sub-system Contractor, test range and laboratory, or customer locations as directed/required.
  • Have working knowledge of the ITAR and foreign disclosure processes. The Contractor shall understand the Congressional notification and RIP/RIS approval process and support the Government in working through these processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical expertise for existing, modified, and new Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) hardware and software design and integration for mission's systems, sensors, and air vehicle systems and subsystems.
  • Attend/participate in various program, management-level, and team-level meetings as required, both in-person and via telecom in support of program engineering, T&E.
  • Prepare/deliver/participate in programmatic, engineering, T&E briefings, planning efforts, execution, documentation activities, conferences, and reviews.
  • Prepare/deliver/participate in complex engineering briefings as required, to include safety critical function thread analysis and Military Flight Release (MFR) in support of the airworthiness determination process.
  • Perform engineering review and analysis of weapon system Contractor proposals and other technical documentation in support of the USAF or FMS partner's program's airframe, systems and sub-system contract definitization, ECPs, or similar.
  • Lead tasks in support of all engineering aspects of the program, delivery, training, operations, maintenance, infrastructure, sustainment and support; and apply extensive knowledge of aircraft systems and other aircraft operations expertise to assess developmental alternative and flight test activities.
  • Coordinate with the LDTO, prime weapon system contractor, DCMA and applicable subcontractors, USAF flight crews and developmental/operational test managers to ensure compliance with DoD/USAF test planning and execution requirements.
  • Lead tasks in support of all T&E aspects of the USAF or FMS partner F-15 program, including maintaining awareness/understanding of test anomalies and deficiencies for input, review, and approval of applicable test documentation.
  • Provide advice on USG policy and technical requirements for individual countries as it relates to the acquisition programs.
  • Provide FMS expertise for various FMS programs within the F-15 Division that are in varied DoD acquisition stages to include planning, execution, delivery, sustainment and program closure IAW DoD policies and guidelines.
  • Assist with the monitoring, reviewing, analyzing and coordinating security assistance issues concerning DoD and non-DoD agencies to ensure compliance with established policies, LOR, LOA, the Foreign Assistance Act, the AECA, ITAR, and other relevant legislation.
  • Assist with P&A and LOA, SOO/SOW development/editing, and reviewing of proposals as assigned by the Government. The Contractor shall assist with reviews of various acquisition documents, export licenses, or other documentation submitted by the prime weapon system or original equipment manufacturers for Government review; and assist with release and coordination of Government responses.
  • Assist with the implementation and execution of assigned LOAs IAW the AECA, Security Assistance Management Manual, DSCA Manual 5105.38-M and complete assigned projects with no or minimal assistance.
  • Provide technical expertise and advice to SAPMs, line managers, and functional team members across all phases of the acquisition process and insight into areas relating to technical policy and lessons learned. The Contractor shall ensure requirements are identified to provide initial support for new acquisitions or modifications of weapon systems through sustainment and disposal.
  • Work with Government personnel, outside agencies, Contractor personnel, and others to support the program. Contractor personnel assist in preparation of technical material for internal and external briefings, presentations, documents and reports.
