Summary:
The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Analyst is responsible for the implementation, configuration, optimization, and ongoing support of the organization's Electronic Health Record and connected clinical or revenue cycle applications. This role works closely with clinical, financial, operational, and technical teams to ensure integrated workflows, system reliability, and alignment with compliance requirements. Responsibilities extend to peripheral systems and devices connected to the EHR, including patient portal, laboratory, imaging, coding, CRM, registration, scheduling, billing, payment, and specialty applications. Job Duties & Responsibilities: EHR & Core Application Support
  • Plan, build, configure, and optimize EHR modules (e.g., Cerner PowerChart or Cerner Patient Accounting) in alignment with clinical, revenue cycle, and operational needs

  • Demonstrates continuous improvement by independently engaging in learning opportunities to maintain current knowledge as well as upcoming changes in functionality and maintenance of applications in assigned solution area.

  • Provides first-tier technical support for issues in assigned solution area. Adheres to appropriate issue escalation expectations.

  • Maintain system function and workflows to support efficient documentation, care delivery, compliance, billing, and reimbursement.

Adheres to solution-related development, implementation and support processes and expectations.
  • Demonstrates effective systems analysis skills by ensuring appropriate technical requirements are determined from business needs and ensures consistent alignment with business needs throughout the development process.

  • Follows appropriate change management processes for new solution implementations by clearly articulating technical and workflow impacts to stakeholders and representing leadership expectations for testing strategy, issue management, implementation readiness and post-implementation monitoring.

  • Supports departmental KPIs for customer satisfaction and timely issue resolution.

Connected Application Support
  • Provide support for third-party clinical applications that integrate with the EHR, including telehealth platforms, scheduling tools, patient engagement systems, and specialty department software (e.g., coding software, outcomes systems).

  • Provide support to registration, scheduling, billing, payment, and specialty applications by performing robust testing, QA, and validation processes for all changes, upgrades, and new implementations.

  • Manage and monitor interoperability between the EHR and connected applications, working closely with interface/API teams when needed.

  • Troubleshoot connectivity or data flow issues between systems, escalating to vendor or infrastructure teams as necessary.

Workflow & Integration
  • Analyze clinical and financial workflows across multiple departments to identify optimization opportunities.

  • Participate in planning and testing for upgrades, enhancements, and new implementations involving the EHR and its connected applications.

  • Ensure cross-platform workflows function as intended, including lab, imaging, pharmacy, charge services, patient accounting, and specialty integrations

Training & Documentation
  • Develop and maintain user guides, standard operating procedures, and training materials for both EHR and connected systems.

  • Provide training and support to end users across departments, tailoring instruction to specific workflows.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Support liaisons between clinical departments, financial departments, IT teams, and vendors to help coordinate system changes, enhancements, and troubleshooting.

  • Support and adhere to governance processes to ensure system changes align with organizational priorities and compliance requirements

Additional Job Description:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Nursing, Social Work, Computer Science, Business or equivalent experience working in a related field.

  • 1+ year of experience supporting EHR systems (Cerner preferred) and related clinical and revenue cycle applications or equivalent experience using EHR systems.

  • Clinical Applications Positions: familiarity with laboratory workflows and integrations, rounding software, vitals machines, and other connected clinical applications.

  • Revenue Cycle Applications Positions: familiarity with revenue cycle applications such as Cerner Patient Accounting, Charge Services, Health Information, Optum, Experian, etc.

  • Knowledge of interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR) and common healthcare integration methods.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.

Working Conditions:
  • Primarily remote with some on-site work in corporate office or clinical areas.

  • May require after-hours or on-call support during system upgrades or critical issues.
