The Strategic Sourcing Group plays a pivotal role within the Devices organization. This Principal Sourcing Engineer - Devices of Tier 1 strategic sourcing position will help strengthen Microsoft's hardware capabilities by leading strategies that deliver meaningful business advantages.We're seeking candidates with deep expertise in contract manufacturing and ODM services, comprehensive knowledge of supply chain operations, and end-to-end product development lifecycle experience. This role involves regular engagement with senior executives, business acumen, strategic thinking, and industry insight are essential.Success in this role will be measured by the definition and execution of Tier 1 strategy, competitiveness of negotiated manufacturing and service costs, strength of business relationships, and performance of Tier 1 partners.
Responsibilities Sourcing Strategy: you will have responsibility for participating in the development and deployment of the Tier 1 vendor short and long-term sourcing strategy in order to achieve world class services with best-in-class pricing and terms. You will be responsible for driving and articulating the strategy discussions with Microsoft's senior executives and business partners. Externally, you'll be responsible to sell a scenario that entices the world's most successful manufacturing and service providers to deliver world-class results by establishing long-term, productive business relationships. An ability to aggressively manage total costs while enabling the right level of service and flexibility is imperative Excellent people management and leadership skills are critical to create and communicate a vision for the future, motivate and develop team members to adapt and execute in order to meet the dynamic demands of our growing hardware business. Organizational Leadership: Collaborate and coordinate with cross-functional teams and other Sourcing leaders to ensure our strategy includes all appropriate business opportunities and to drive strategy adoption towards alignment of the supplier roadmap. Account Management: Lead and manage global account relationships with executive and senior management levels from CM/ODM companies as well as provide strategic business leadership, negotiations management, and execution of regular business reviews. Business Development: In new hardware or technology spaces, drive supplier selection through initiation of discussions, negotiation of master contracts and non-disclosure agreements, and work with the product development teams to assess technological and manufacturing capabilities and overall 'fit' for Microsoft. Execution: Drive budget compliance while maintaining solid relationships with internal teams as well as manufacturing service providers.
