OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking a GIS Analyst with at least three (3) years of experience to join our growing team at our client project office in Tucker, GA.

Hourly range for this position is $29.00 - $38.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Work independently and as part of a project team to provide GIS support during the planning, design, and construction phases of transmission line and substation projects.
  • Take initiative to perform GIS data gathering, digitizing, conversion, and analysis.
  • Apply cartographic standards to prepare maps and exhibits using GIS datasets.
  • Employ GIS standards to maintain GIS database and applications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3) -five (5) years' experience working with ESRI Desktop software applications and extensions.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Online and mobile GIS applications like ESRI's Field Maps & Survey 123.
  • Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor's degree OR Associates.
  • Knowledge of shapefiles, geodatabases, and being able to work within a SDE environment.
  • Knowledge of data projections and how to manipulate.
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic GIS concepts and methodologies such as drawing scale, spatial databases, spatial projections and coordinate systems, text and annotation placement, layer control, definition queries.
  • Demonstrated understanding of analytical GIS concepts such as spatial analysis, table and spatial joins, 3D analyst tools, and use of CAD data within GIS.
  • Demonstration of understanding of cartographic methods, ability to follow cartographic standards, and ability to review map products created by others for adherence to established standards.
  • Effective communicator and experience presenting in front of small - medium sized groups.
  • Attention to detail, organized, customer focused.
  • Able to work in a team and multitask.
  • Able to provide direction to Technician staff for cartographic support on projects.
  • Ability to work effectively on tight deadlines when necessary.
  • Ability to track and report project progress for timesheet and budget reporting.
  • Some field work will be required, accompany project teams to transmission line study areas and walking in proposed rights-of-way to collect GPS locations.
