Project Engineer

Client is looking for a talented, experienced, and innovative Project Engineer to be a part of the Power Development engineering team that will be driving innovation and technological advancements to enhance the reliability, affordability, and sustainability of our new power generation projects.
This position collaborates with key stakeholders to develop and maintain the company's standards in engineering design for new generation plants (gas and renewables), energy storage projects, and other zero or low carbon technologies. Ensures that engineering products are complete, accurate and constructible for all elements of a project's scope. Exhibits and promotes a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, implementation of best practices, and application of lessons learned. This position is responsible for coordinating efforts of cross-functional teams and building effective relationships with key internal/external stakeholders, including contractors. The Project Engineer is required to work directly with multiple Project Managers and Project Controls staff as a technical resource during the development phase.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promotes safe behavior, in accordance with Company expectations, and adherence to the safety rules on the project.
- Maintains and develops the Company's engineering design basis documents used for new generation project development. Interfaces with the Capital Projects execution team to incorporate lessons learned.
- Supports and participates in the technical evaluation of project (solar, wind, battery, thermal powerplants, etc.) proposals to ensure conformance to Entergy's technical standards and project objectives.
- Participates in state regulatory commission approval activities by providing technical support for the development of submittal documents.
- Interfaces with regulators as needed.
- Identifies engineered safety controls and hazard removal during engineering design.
- Supports/Leads cross-functional team(s) consisting of internal Subject Matter Experts, Owners Engineers, EPC Contractors, and Technical Consultants during development of EPC contracts.
- Ensures documentation of engineering is adequately captured to support audit and prudency review.
- Supports/Leads Owner team in writing official Records of Decision to capture prudency of major project decisions. This activity includes the evaluation of alternatives, seeking concurrence among key stakeholders, addressing barriers, and providing timely resolutions to risks or issues within project timelines.
- Acts as Contract Manager for various engineering contracts outside of the EPC contract scope.
- Performs/Manages the review of engineering design to assure compliance with permits, codes, and utility standards while ensuring design supports the strategic, operational and maintenance goals of the project.
- Coordinates with Project Managers in following the Project Delivery System and ensuring requirements are met and producing associated deliverables.
- Participates in contractor/vendor selection process with a specific goal of assessing engineering experience, competencies, and capability.
- Supports/Leads technical open book engineering process with contractors during development of major projects and applies value engineering concepts to ensure projects are competitive.
- Assures that all firms solicited to provide engineering services are duly licensed in the state of the project.
- Assures Project compliance with NERC and Security Standards.
- Ensures all documents generated on the project are stored in designated repository.
- Supports/Leads/Follows change management processes.

- Minimum education required of the position. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum experience required of the position.
**Candidates must have the below experience**
Desired: Professional Engineer license and PMP certification.
Project Engineer, Sr Lead: 10+ years of applicable and progressive professional experience, preferably engineering design, construction or operation of power systems. (8 years with a PE/PMP Certification/Master's Degree)
Project Engineer Sr Staff: 12+ years of applicable and progressive professional experience, preferably engineering design, construction or operation of power systems (10 years with a PE/PMP Certification/Master's Degree)
