CSX provides optional intern housing for the duration of the 10-week program, as long as the selected intern meets eligibility criteria Competitive hourly pay The Summer Internship Program will include: cross-functional learning, local onsite visits, Executive networking sessions, lunch & learn, and more  Job Summary We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the maintenance, repair, and performance optimization of industrial equipment. This internship offers hands-on experience in developing preventive maintenance strategies, troubleshooting equipment issues, and analyzing data to enhance operational reliability and reduce downtime. The role is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, eager to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world industrial setting. Key Responsibilities 
 Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance strategies to ensure equipment reliability and performance.Support troubleshooting of equipment failures, helping identify root causes and assisting with repairs to minimize downtime.Collect and analyze equipment performance data to support recommendations for improving operational efficiency.Collaborate with senior engineers and maintenance teams on equipment repairs, upgrades, and installations.Document maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repair logs to support operational reporting.Follow safety protocols and industry standards during all maintenance and repair tasks.Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving maintenance processes and equipment performance.Assist in creating maintenance schedules and procedures under the guidance of experienced engineers. Minimum Qualifications 
 Must be at least 18 years of ageCurrent enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4-point scale) Preferred Qualifications: 
 Anticipated graduation within a year after the end of the internshipCumulative minimum GPA of 3.25 (based on a 4-point scale) Experience:  
 No prior professional experience required; coursework, projects, or prior internships in mechanical systems or equipment maintenance are a plus. Technical Skills: 
 Basic understanding of mechanical systems and troubleshooting techniques.Familiarity with or willingness to learn preventive maintenance tools and processes.Exposure to data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, or CMMS) is an advantage.Knowledge of mechanical design principles or industrial equipment operation is a plus. Soft Skills: 
 Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.Good communication and teamwork abilities.Detail-oriented with a commitment to safety and quality. Availability:
