Overview To coordinate and oversee software quality assurance activities related to system analysis. Develops implementation plans, performs exploratory testing, and executes functional and regression testing to ensure software readiness for release. Works closely with engineering, product management, and support teams to identify and resolve issues. Oversees and optimizes user access across enterprise systems and applications. Provides strategic and operational support through access control management, compliance monitoring, and process improvement initiatives, including automation. Assists the business in implementing strategic technology solutions by understanding needs, promoting new functionality, and applying knowledge of infrastructure and software applications. Conducts system analyses through data acquisition and modeling. Identifies, documents, and implements business requirements to enhance systems and support operations under limited supervision. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project developers, business analysts, and customer support teams to ensure software solutions meet user expectations
- Develop and execute software test cases based on business specifications and requirements
- Conduct exploratory, usability, and user acceptance testing; validate and document results
- Perform root cause analysis on defects and recommend applicable business solutions
- Execute comprehensive testing to ensure all features function as designed
- Contribute to continuous improvement of software testing methodologies and develop standard operating procedures
- Analyze business requirements, data, workflows, and processes to identify improvement opportunities
- Use elicitation techniques to gather stakeholder needs and define technical designs
- Coordinate integration of solutions with existing applications and resolve conflicts to ensure compatibility
- Develop and maintain understanding of industry standards, best practices, and relevant technologies
- Participate in cross-organizational task groups for new systems, products, or services
- Plan, coordinate, and execute software releases to Controlled Testing and Production environments
- Interact with ETS staff and business units to resolve issues and improve procedures
- Utilize performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and develop process improvement plans
- Partner with business units and vendors to implement initiatives and resolve problems
- Implement new or enhanced products, services, and operational changes
- Provide leadership and guidance to ensure successful implementation of business unit projects
- Interpret analysis results and present recommendations and implications
- Write requirements and define editorial workflows for business owner projects
- Develop and oversee project plans and roadmaps to remediate control deficiencies
- Ensure preventative, detective, and corrective controls are properly identified and documented
- Report testing activity including time spent, discrepancies found, and testing time lost
- Monitor system performance to ensure efficiency and recommend emerging technologies aligned with business goals
- Represent the business unit in identifying, analyzing, and communicating system solutions
- Collaborate with key partners in the development and delivery of solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience in problem resolution, including root cause analysis and issue scoping
- Proficiency in statistical methods, forecasting, cost-benefit analysis, and related analytical tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative teams and manage small to medium-sized projects or initiatives
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently and within team environments
- Working knowledge of data querying, reporting, forecasting, and statistical modeling
- Experience researching, compiling, and documenting data, business processes, and workflows
- Background in market/consumer research, project management, and strategic planning support
- Proficiency in SQL and VBA
- Familiarity with Navy Federal's Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools and internal systems
- Knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, policies, and procedures
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management abilities
- Ability to interpret and apply data, procedures, and regulations effectively
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
- Ability to identify and analyze business requirements and recommend effective solutions
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Desired Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a software tester or software quality assurance specialist
- Proven aptitude for testing quality software on multiple platforms and knowledge of industry-standard operating procedures and tools
- Understanding of various programming languages like Java, C++ and Python
- Proficiency in writing unit tests and integration tests for programming languages in Azure DevOps
- Relevant software testing certifications include Certified Software Tester (CSTE), ISTQB Agile Tester Certification or Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST)
- Knowledge of computer architecture and tools for manual & auto testing, unit testing, integration testing, functional testing and bug-tracking systems
- Demonstrated success in software development lifecycle management (SDLC)
- Experience in working with test automation tools like Selenium, Appium, or Robot Framework
- Excellent interpersonal skills, analytical soundness, data analysis acumen and troubleshooting & programming capabilities
- Willingness to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
