What You'll Do



Summary/Objective:

Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation solutions that integrate core systems through workflow orchestration tools and API-driven services. This role will translate business requirements into scalable, reliable automations that accelerate business processes, enhance observability, and enable DCU's evolving AI/Intelligent Automation strategy.

In addition to strong engineering skills, the Senior Software Engineer will mentor others on automation best practices, ensure solutions are secure and compliant, and drive adoption of AI-enabled development patterns across the enterprise.

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of automation workflows and microservices using workflow orchestration tools, APIs, and cloud-native services to connect and extend DCU's enterprise systems.
  • Build scalable integrations across functional areas such as incident management, change management, collaboration, and workflow automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Develop and maintain reusable components, templates, and connectors that accelerate automation delivery.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level developers on automation, API-first design, and AI/ML integration practices.
  • Collaborate with functional teams across DCU to identify opportunities where generative AI and agent-based automation can safely be piloted and scaled.
  • Monitor and manage cost efficiency of automation and AI/LLM usage, including tracking execution volumes, forecasting expenses, and implementing optimizations to stay within budget.
  • Participate in requirements analysis with business and technical stakeholders, ensuring proposed automations align to DCU's enterprise architecture and compliance standards.
  • Implement observability and monitoring within automations (logging, alerting, dashboards) to ensure reliability and rapid issue resolution.
  • Contribute to engineering best practices for automation development, including coding standards, testing approaches, version control, and deployment pipelines.
  • Stay current with advancements in workflow automation, AI, and integration technologies, recommending adoption strategies where appropriate.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Manager(s).



What You'll Need



* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, software engineering, or mathematics.
* Possess an understanding of business management
* 8+ years of software programming experience
* Advanced proficiency in the programming languages Python and/or C# along with a good working knowledge of JavaScript.
* Extensive experience with modern web development frameworks like Angular, React, and Vue.js.
* Deep understanding of database technologies including SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
* Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, with a focus on scalable and resilient architecture.
* Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, including deployment and management of microservices.
* Solid grasp of common design patterns and their application in complex software systems.
* Comprehensive understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation, including automated provisioning and management of cloud resources.
