We're seeking a Social Media Content Intern to support our growing digital presence. This role is ideal for a creative storyteller who's comfortable behind the camera, has a knack for creating engaging social content through video mostly, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Calendar Support:
    Assist in monthly social media calendar ideation, campaign planning, and brainstorming sessions.
  • Start-to-Finish Content Creation:
    • Build the content by capturing and editing short-form video content (e.g., home tours, behind-the-scenes, feature highlights) for platforms like Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
    • Write compelling, brand-aligned captions and post copy.
    • Source and organize user-generated content and brand assets.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work with marketing and sales to gather content ideas and coordinate shoots as needed.
  • Work closely with internal business leaders to learn the homebuilding industry, the Meritage business model and an assigned functional area such as construction, land, marketing, operations, purchasing, finance, human resources, etc.
  • Learn our core values and why they drive everything we do
  • Translate classroom experience into practical application during the internship
  • Participate in cross-functional projects involving other interns and business leaders centered around current business challenges
  • Present real world business recommendations to senior leadership that can help drive our strategy
  • Write a paper focusing on the experience or another assigned topic

Qualifications

Need to be awesome at:

  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Experience with video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere Rush, Canva, Natively within Social Media Apps, etc.).
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Bias for action is critical.
  • Comfortable working independently and in a team setting.
  • Operating with integrity
  • Always assuming positive intent and bringing passion to work
  • Having a desire to "win" and get stuff done
  • Fostering an inclusive environment
  • Asking questions, seeking to understand and making recommendations to improve
  • Wanting to always innovate, think of new ideas and solve for bigger problems
  • Being relentless in the pursuit of excellence; will never "settle"
  • Actively enrolled in a degree program from a regionally accredited university or college

Preferred:

  • Photography or graphic design skills
  • Familiarity with real estate or homebuilding industry
  • Paid Social knowledge in addition to Organic Social
  • Experience in Sprout Social: Scheduling, publishing and creating insights from analytics
  • Experience working in a team environment on cross team or functional projects
  • Experience dealing with ambiguity
  • Experience in a leadership capacity or role and influencing peers
