Georgia State University

The Office of Academic Affairs, led by the Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, helps ensure the development of academic programs that meet students' academic and career goals and serve the needs of the state of Georgia. The office works with colleges, departments, the University Senate, and offices across the institution to ensure the health of the university's academic pathways, programs, certificates, and concentrations, from inception and launch through program changes, assessment of student learning, and program reviews. The Senior Associate Provost keeps faculty and students informed regarding the mission, goals, and structure of the university's general education initiatives and works with units across the university to improve general education programs, such as the Core Curriculum, the College to Career program, and internships.

The Information Systems Manager, with the working title of Manager, Academic Affairs Data reports to Georgia State University's Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs (SAPAA). The individual in this position ("Manager") is responsible for tracking academic program forecasting, program development, program modifications and substantive changes, and other identified reporting as needed. S/he will manage the business systems that support curriculum changes and catalog updates for the SAPAA. These systems include data collection, management, and reporting platforms for the following enterprise-wide tasks: catalog management, University handbooks, new program approval, Academic Program Forecast, Board of Regents Budget Hearing Narrative.

The Manager serves as the system administrator for the university's curriculum management software and maintains and updates the University's online catalog using university-licensed software, while adhering to university policies and procedures and ensuring degree requirements are consistent across various systems, including the student information system, Banner.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

* Collects and synthesizes system requirements from academic departments, offices, committees, and faculty.
* Validates business rules for the curriculum management software.
* Performs testing/piloting activities.
* Provides technical and functional support to the university-wide community regarding the use of the software for academic program development.
* Develops training and technical guides on the curriculum management software.
* Facilitates the development of new services and products.
* Demonstrates technology solutions and products to colleagues, university wide.
* Maintains functional and technical knowledge of university degree program policies and procedures.
* Tracks proposals for academic programs and general education courses through the governance processes of the university and the University System of Georgia.
* Works with support units across the university and the University System of Georgia to ensure that changes are promptly reflected in the catalog, advising, admissions, registration, financial aid, and the USG's Degrees and Majors Authorized page.
* Submits proposals for new degrees and modifications to existing degrees to USG.
* Works with the Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs to analyze academic program Key performance indicators.
* Manages Smartsheets to support tracking, workflow, and reporting needs across Academic Affairs.
* Updates department and speedtype information for the role to ensure alignment with current organizational and budget structures.
* Maintains the content of the website of the Office of Academic Affairs.
* Performs other duties, as assigned by the Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.

Qualifications :

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • Four years of related experience in information systems management and/or curriculum development management.
  • Familiarity with curriculum management applications (e.g., Curriculog), student information systems (e.g., Banner), course catalog and handbook applications (e.g., Acalog).
