 About Technical Operations
 
 BioMarin's Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin's cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.
 SUMMARY The AnalyticalSciencesdepartment at BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. is seeking askilledAnalytical Biochemistand/orBiologistat theResearch Associatelevel to join a team focused on supporting gene therapy & enzyme replacement therapy.The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, independent and critical thinker who hasexperienceof working in a multi-disciplinary and fast-paced environment, andsolidcommunicationskills.The candidate will executea wide variety of analytical methods and assays for the characterization oftherapeutic candidatesin developmentwith aparticular focuson testing to support clinical and commercial process development teams. RESPONSIBILITIES 
 Primary responsibility: Execute product testing to support Drug Substance and Drug Product process development teams 
 Perform non-routine testing of in-process samples, and final product samples of key projects for the TDS processing teamConduct analytical tests using techniques such as HPLC, UPLC, CE, FTIR, and plate-based methodsDocument all test results accurately and in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and company SOPs.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Drug Substance Technologies, Drug Product Device Technologies, Manufacturing, and Quality. 
 Provide concise and quantitative analysis of data and interpretation of experimental results.Provide effective oral presentations atdepartmental meetingsReport progress to the manager on aweeklybasis on each programWrite up experimental plans and results and share with collaborators and supervisor;present data proactively and regularly in group meetings.Catalogue data/reports electronically in an accessible manner for inspections EXPERIENCE Required Skills: 
 Strong understanding of GMP, GLP, and regulatory standards  
 Familiar with protein chemistry/functionand bioassaysExperienced in cell culture techniques and protein expression/activity readout methodsExcellentcommunication, collaborationand writing skillsProven data analysis, interpretation and scientific communication skillsProven flexibilityand execution skills to deliverin a fast-paced, multi-taskingenvironment Desired Skills: 
 Experiencein method troubleshooting, qualification, and transferKnowledge of biopharmaceutical development is a plus EDUCATION Research Associate 1: Bachelors degree in biological sciences and1-2 years of relevant experience. EQUIPMENT Operation ofstandardlaboratoryequipment for biochemistry and forcellular assays CONTACTS Will report to the Sr. Manager Analytical Services. SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY No immediate supervisory role.

BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
