Role and Responsibilities

The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the shipping and receiving department, ensuring efficient handling of goods, compliance with safety regulations, and effective team management. Responsibilities will include loading and unloading packages, verifying shipment contents, and managing the documentation associated with shipping processes. but are not limited to:

  • Manages the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies
  • Collaborates and communicates with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products
  • Tracks, traces, and updates the status of incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Promptly unloads trucks and deliveries, and sorts and stocks receivables
  • Receive shipments/deliveries and examine shipment contents, and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy
  • Maintains an accurate log sheet of daily moves, scanning inventory, and counting accurately
  • Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude
  • Provides additional backup support for shipping and receiving departments
  • Palletize, wrap, and band products for outbound shipment.
  • Use material handling equipment, including but not limited to forklifts and Powered Pallet Jacks, and will certify on the equipment
  • Assist other warehouse personnel when needed
  • Follow instructions quickly, safely, and accurately
  • Assist in the organization of warehouse storage space effectively and work in a clean and orderly manner at all times
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of time organization and urgency
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs
Qualifications and Education Requirements

The employee must have:

  • Six months' logistics, retail, or customer service experience
  • Experience: Forklift Operator: (Required)
  • Knowledge of computer applications and basic mathematics and computer skills
  • Understanding level of Safety Data Sheets, HAZMAT
  • Driver's license (Required)
  • HS Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Ability to handle weights up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal directions in English
  • Must be punctual, have a good attendance record, and have a reliable means of transportation to work

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFDs), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and the location where the work is being done.

In addition, the employee must also be capable of:

  • Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.
  • Standing, stooping, twisting, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting repetitively and/or for long periods of time.
  • Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in the performance of work.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30lbs individually. Anything greater than 30lbs and up to 60lbs will require additional lifting means.
  • Must be able to push and pull at a peak force of 150lbs.
  • Climbing stairs and/or vertical ladders of a height of 6ft or greater.
  • Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights.
  • Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
