What will you do:

The Product Manager is responsible for the performance of the Americas Restaurant Fire Suppression product portfolio. Major responsibilities include driving profitable revenue growth through robust product development initiatives, product life cycle plans, solution enhancements, sustaining and obsolescence activities. This individual will also oversee cost-out / value engineering initiatives and gather customer and market insights. Significant cross functional collaboration is required across the organization, including global sales, engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and other functions. This position reports to the Director of Product Management, will be based in North America, and work from either a JCI company office or remotely.

How you will do it:

Product Market Insight:

  • Assesses the market, product trends & voice of customer information

  • Conducts sizing, segmentation and targeting criteria of markets

  • Conducts regular competitive & regulatory analysis on the product line

Product Strategy:

  • Develops the product line strategy based on all relevant data and insights

  • Determines the value propositions of individual products in the product line

  • Defines global product positioning strategy and go to market criteria for commercial success

  • Communicates the strategy, value prop, and pricing guidelines and aligns with the greater organization

Development:

  • Defines the product line roadmap substantiated by voice of the customer and competitor analytics

  • Develops new product concepts in existing and new markets / channels by following a multi-stage-gate process and by running multi-stakeholder development teams

  • Defines product requirements including cost, quality, and timing targets

  • Delivers detailed business cases for new products and enhancements

  • Defines strategy and roadmap for customer facing tools and growth programs

Lifecycle Management:

  • Leads cross functional team through product lifecycle process including introductions, product line analysis, value assessment and SKU rationalization activities

  • Understands product portfolio at a global level (SKUs, pricing, profitability, sales by customer / channel, quality, warranty)

  • Analyze sales trends and communicate with end customers on market and product updates

  • Interface with end-users, sales, engineering, marketing, and operations

What we look for:

Required:

  • Four (4) year degree in business or engineering field

  • Minimum of 5+ years business experience, preferably with 4 years in a product management role

  • Product management of Industrial hard goods (B2B) and product development in a phased-gate process experience

  • Comfort and experience in interacting with external customers

  • Experience working in a matrix business structure and working collaboratively with multiple functions on joint programs

  • Excellent written & verbal English communication skills

  • Strong financial and general business acumen

  • Ability to travel 10-20% of time

Preferred:

  • Previous experience within fire protection, fire service or infrastructure related industry

  • Prior experience in commercial kitchen appliance design and operation and/or corporate restaurant or hospitality management

  • MBA a plus

  • Proven ability to drive results via disciplined execution amidst organizational ambiguity

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $109,000 - 146,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
