The Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) will support the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in all areas of security administration. Successful candidate will serve as the secondary point of contact for all industrial security concerns. The AFSO should have knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual/32 CFR*117 (NISPOM). The AFSO is the backup to the FSO, and as much may assume any and all duties listed for the FSO as appropriate

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

  • Serve as the AFSO for the Columbia City facility.
  • Is primarily responsibility for Document Control and Accountability, Closed Area management and safeguarding practices.
  • Assists the FSO with administering the Security Program, to include physical security requirements, incident response, reporting, and insider threat program requirements.
  • Assist the FSO in enforcement of operations policies or procedures as appropriate
  • Support security aspects of various U.S. Government agencies' classified programs
  • Assist in the preparation of all documentation required to maintain a Facility Clearance
  • Perform maintenance in Defense Information System for Security (DISS)
  • Support Program DD254s to ensure adherence to classified programs
  • Provide quarterly reporting and security activity overview to the GSC
  • Administer a comprehensive security education, training, and awareness program for both cleared and non-cleared personnel, to include Initial & Annual Security Refresher, Insider Threat Program, and Quarterly Security Newsletters
  • Respond to emergency alarm calls off hours
  • Assist in the investigations and report security violations and incidents and work closely with Program Managers, employees and management to develop appropriate corrective actions
  • Assist in the required self-inspections of security program, resolving possible security violations and initiating measures to correct security deficiencies
  • Process visit requests for personnel and International visit requests
  • Ensures up-to-date security knowledge through training, security meetings, and security-related memberships
  • Assist ISSM, ISSO on classified IS

Required Skills:

  • FSO Certification or obtain within 6 months
  • Must have or be able to obtain a US Government Top Secret clearance. Security clearances are granted to US Citizens
  • Strong organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail and follow-through. Timely communications and efficient time management with demonstrated prioritization skills are mandatory for success in this position.

Desired Skills:

  • 2+ years industrial security experience with government contractor(s) preferred
  • Possesses basic knowledge of CUI (ITAR/EAR) regulations
  • Experience interfacing with DCSA, Government customers, and executive management
  • Ability to understand, explain, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, directives, and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of DISS, NISS, eMASS and eQIP.
  • In-depth knowledge of the NISPOM / 32 CFR * 117
  • Experience performing self-inspections and taking a leadership role in DCSA Vulnerability Assessments
  • Candidate will exhibit characteristics of a leader who is determined, results oriented, persuasive, and a strong communicator
  • Experience with Insider Threat Programs
  • Able to work independently with little guidance
  • Ethical Conduct
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work in teams with members from various disciplines
  • Must be proficient in prioritizing and multi-tasking
