Job Description:

The orderly is responsible for assisting with the transportation of hospital patients to and from various departments to personal vehicles upon discharge and occasionally to other buildings on the hospital campus. They may also be required to assist nursing staff with physical care of patients in activities such as turning, personal care and assisting up to chair. Other duties within a safe scope of care may be assigned. The orderlies report directly to the Director of Diagnostic Imaging but may also function under the supervision of the clinical house supervisors. Orderlies are expected to comply with all policies of Baptist Health Richmond including those established by the Code of Conduct and the Corporate Compliance Program.

• Provides safe transportation of patients between various departments as well as patient discharges.
• Delivers specimens to laboratory.
• Assists with patient lifts, transfers as requested by Nursing staff, and PT/OT staff.
• Assist nursing staff with physical care of patients in activities such as turning, personal care hygiene and assisting up to chair.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Completes transfers in a timely manner.
• Provides equipment or supplies as needed.
• Checks supplies and restocks.

Essential Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain within 30 days.
• Dysrhythmia class offered by Baptist Health Richmond education department.
