The Opportunity

Do you have a passion for energy, current events and using digital tools to help audiences understand how energy connects lives and livelihoods in communities across North America? We are recruiting for a Digital Communications Advisor based out of Houston, TX, Washington, D.C. or Calgary, AB., who is energized by collaboration, all-in on energy, digitally savvy and passionate about advocacy. This role is at the forefront of planning, implementing and managing innovative digital marketing strategies and paid advertising campaigns across various online channels, all in support of our Business Communications mandate. Our ideal candidate is a big picture, forward-thinker, who uses creativity to turn the complex into the relatable and compelling.

What you'll do

  • Develop and implement digital marketing strategies and paid advertising campaigns: Propel proactive communications through integrated digital campaigns aligned with policy, project and business objectives in collaboration with communications and media teams and other External Relations functions.
  • Develop and implement compelling content: share TC Energy's business story effectively.
  • Drive results through insights: Employ analytics to optimize messaging, targeting and resource allocation for maximum impact.
  • Amplify policy influence and coalition building: Advance digital advocacy programs that enhance our voice in energy policy discussions and effectively coordinate digital coalitions with associations and industry partners.
  • Monitor industry trends and conversations to identify and propose opportunities for engagement, advocacy and reputation management, while identifying potential reputational and project and operational risks by monitoring online media, local opposition groups, and industry conversations.
  • Stay ahead of macro and geopolitical trends: monitor the macro and geopolitical environment to understand how it impacts our industry and the communities where we operate.
  • Support emergency response and crisis management communications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Five or more years' of professional experience in a digital, communications or marketing role
  • Proven experience in digital communications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of energy and current affairs in the U.S. and Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thrive in an evolving and complex environment
  • Extensive expertise in developing advocacy campaigns
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams

This position requires candidates to:

  • Occasionally be available for extended work hours outside of standard business hours and emergency support as needed
  • Be part of an on-call rotation
  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, U.S. and Mexico)
  • Overnight stays away from home base may be required
  • Possess, or be eligible to receive, a valid passport and maintain travel eligibility for Domestic, Cross Border, and International Travel (including the USA and Mexico)
