Senior Accountant

The position will be responsible for accurately tracking major asset and liability accounts such as property, plant, and equipment; investments; bonds; and fund balances. Assure that transactions are recorded timely and accounts are reconciled monthly, particularly restricted gifts.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Lawson Asset Management module "owner" responsible for processing transactions for fixed asset additions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation; and reconciliation to general ledger.

  • Reconciliation of bank accounts, treasury investments as well as endowment investments

  • Fund account balances including pledge receivable balances, CRUT's, gift annuities, restricted gift accounting, and endowment spend. Monitor to assure spending is consistent with restrictions. Support Development group in planning and accounting for events and gifts.

  • Responsible for forecasting balance sheets as part of budgeting and forecasting exercises

  • Other account analyses, documentation of internal controls, and other tasks as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Advanced degree is a plus.

  • Knowledge of non-profit accounting, especially gift accounting

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (Lawson and Blackbaud Raiser's Edge) plus use of other modeling tools.

  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with shifting responsibilities and priorities; ability to re-prioritize efforts without losing sight of required outcomes.

  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing and interpreting financial data and preparing financial reports, statements, and/or projections in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Ability to travel to Lab locations on occasion.
