SUMMARY

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Painter in our Facilities Maintenance department. This full-time position will work weekdays.

Performs work of moderate difficulty in the painting and preparation of walls, ceilings, doors and windows and other interior surfaces. Responsible for the Planned (PM) and Corrective Maintenance of the Hospital and Whittier Clinic Physical Plant buildings' interior and exterior services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preps surfaces and applies paint, varnish, stain, wall cover and other finishes; also includes taping of drywall
  • Decorates and protects interior and exterior surfaces, equipment and furniture of Hospital and clinics
  • Uses paint brushes, rollers, scrapers and heat sources
  • Documents work order requests
  • Acts in a back-up position for Sign Maker
  • Inspects construction projects as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned after appropriate training

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school or Vocational school graduate
  • Completion of an accredited painter's apprenticeship program
  • 2 years painting experience as a Journeyman Painter

  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Considerable knowledge of the tools and methods of the painting trade
  • Knowledge of the preparation and use of painting materials and equipment, including taping of drywall
  • Ability to exercise judgment in the selection of proper materials
  • Ability to mix, blend and match paints
  • Working ability to read simple instructions
  • Working ability to perform work involving considerable standing, reaching and stooping

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hospital or medical setting experience
