PURPOSE

Under minimal supervision repairs and maintains the Builders FirstSource fleet by performing the following duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Reads job order and observes and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
  • Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces other parts.
  • Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments.
  • Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of fleet equipment.
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of fleet equipment.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Perform certified brake inspection and make necessary repairs.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on fleet equipment.
  • Perform annual OSHA Inspections on fleet equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper General Manager.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Track and maintain electronic records on all maintenance and repairs to fleet equipment.
  • Control maintenance budget and spending.
  • Set working hours for department and obtain approval through General Manager.
  • Direct and delegate workload to mechanic technicians.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides supervision to mechanic technicians.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  • Ten years related experience and /or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Five years' experience in a supervisory role.



COMPETENCIES




  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, etc.

  • Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations.
