Position at Leopardo Construction
Leopardo, ENR top 400 general contractor and top 100 green builder, is looking for a Quality Engineer to grow with us. This is a great opportunity for a self-starter with a curious mindset to be a part of exciting projects across the diverse markets that Leopardo serves. The Quality Engineer will work closely with the Director of Quality to identify potential quality issues, partner with project teams and consultants, and work towards remediation in the pursuit of construction excellence.
Summary: The Quality Engineer is responsible for assisting and supporting the quality department in planning, directing, and coordinating department activities to operationally support construction project teams.
Responsibilities include duties such as:
- Regular job-site visits including reporting to review project compliance with Leopardo quality standards
- Participate in project pre-job and post-job meetings as the quality representative identifying areas of potential quality concern
- Participate and coordinate PEER review meetings and PEER review follow-up meeting
- Checking project submittals, shop drawings, RFI's, and inspection logs as it relates to quality
- Ensure correct setup and maintenance of department and project documentation
- Work on the company lessons learned database with lesson input and maintenance
- Work on companywide communications and learning opportunities as it relates to quality
- Participate in quality incident response meetings and documentation
- Work on site with consultants and testing agencies as a Leopardo representative (i.e. enclosure consultants, material testing, and commissioning agents)
- Review 3rd party quality consultant scopes and advise project teams
- Conduct jobsite quality walks observing and documenting quality issues
- Communicate with project teams on quality issues and work toward remediation
- Work closely with virtual build group (VGB) participating in coordination meetings and working with 3D models
- Participate and help coordinate project enclosure coordination meetings
- Participate in pull planning/scheduling meetings on-site as a quality representative
- Assist project teams during punch-list phase for company efficiency
Education / Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Architecture, Construction Management etc.) or equivalent construction training and experience (such as field trades experience)
- Ability to interpret and understand contract drawings and specifications
- Basic understanding of building enclosure systems
- Strong organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, multi-tasking and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and remain calm under pressure
- Team player who is comfortable collaborating with a variety of company stakeholders
- Ability to travel to jobsites throughout the Chicago area regularly and on rare occasions out of state jobsites
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Driver's License is required

Leopardo considers many factors when determining actual salary including experience, education, unique skillsets, abilities, market, geography and business needs. Salary range: $70-85k. This position is eligible for annual discretionary bonus and car allowance. Leopardo does not discriminate based on any protected category with respect to wages.
