Position Highlights The University of Arizona's Department of Physics invites you to apply to the role of Administrative Support Professional I. The Administrative Support Professional I will support the Department of Physics and the Department Head by performing general administrative functions and providing assistance with various tasks. The incumbent will be responsible for administrative support, which includes daily departmental operations, internal/external communication needs, event planning, faculty affairs, and the department of Physics' Microcampus Program.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Department Head of Physics, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of daily activities. This may include coordinating meetings, facilitating communications with faculty, staff, and students, managing department documents (mostly on-line), and participating in regular meetings to discuss operations and plans.
  • Support internal and external communication needs of the department, including the development and maintenance of documents and on-line social media, website updates, and alumni connections.
  • Support and oversee the management of the Promotion & Tenure Process and Annual Faculty Evaluations, including data collection from and to faculty members, committees, and college representatives.
  • Provide administrative support for Physics Department Microcampus at HeBei University of Technology (HEBUT), including exchange programs, student and global professor support, as well as support to the Director of HEBUT program.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Skill in computer applications and office software (i.e. Word, Excel).
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask at various times.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience and a minimum of one year of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
