Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

As theSenior Field Appraiser, you willcapture property information primarily for a diverse range of properties, including agricultural, commercial, high-value custom residential,specialized; and complex business personal properties.We will count on you to collect and record data electronically to support the accurate capture of property information used by CAMA to produce mass appraisal models and by appraisers conducting appraisal analysis. Additionally, we will rely on you to know and apply statutory criteria to decisions regarding agricultural classification.

We Require

  • Two years of experience in an appraisal or similar environments such as real estate, construction, property inspection, titling, or mortgage

  • One year of experience performing discovery, measurement, verification, or other technical functions related to property appraisal and assessment

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Possession of an Arizona Department of Revenue Provisional Certification may substitute for one year of the experience requirement

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

  • Must possess a formal certification in field appraisal techniques by the time of hire, OR

  • Must complete an Assessor's Office training in field appraisal techniques and practices within 12 months of hire date

We Also Value

  • Experience with computer-assisted sketching/drawing programs

  • Experience with spreadsheets and other computer software programs

  • Experience applying statutory criteria to decision making process

  • Experience with statutory DOR documentation

  • Knowledge of generally excepted agricultural practices

Job Contributions

  • Captures property data in a timely and accurate manner by conducting field visits to properties, measuring properties, noting property descriptions, counts, and relevant property characteristics

  • Uses desktop review software and other systems to systematically capture and verify properties and their characteristics

  • Canvasses for new properties, improvements, special features, changes, or additions to value by traveling to assigned areas or using the desktop review process and aerial photography

  • Gathers information about existing properties and properties under construction from miscellaneous property representatives

  • Documents property notes, measurements, field inspection dates, and other information accurately by hard copy or electronically

  • Creates and updates scaled property drawings based on field measurements, blueprints, plans, or CAD files containing property details to accurately represent properties accurately

  • Ensures accuracy of data in Assessor's records by performing basic to moderately complex mathematical calculations including determination of square footage, fractions, or decimals using standard formulas, determining age and grading factors

  • Verify agricultural use of property and update farm group data to include lease information

  • Review agricultural business documentation and apply statutory criteria to determine if classification qualifications have been met.

  • Contributes to the accuracy and currency of Assessor data by taking photographs and drawing sketches of properties and entering these into Assessor's electronic records

  • Supports the verification and correction of property data necessary for the fair and equitable valuation of properties by working closely with analytic appraisers and CAMA to resolve anomalies and adjustments; conducting field visits and using computer systems to obtain additional or correct information on properties, property components, and characteristics for use in addressing variances, appeals, making grading or obsolescence decisions, appraisal analysis or model adjustments

  • May mentor Field Appraisers as assigned

Working Conditions

  • May work in extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain or construction sites. Works in desert environments with dangerous flora and fauna.
