Location: Remote (U.S. Citizens or Green Card Holders only) (C2C, Sponsorship, and OPT is not available for this position)
About the Role
We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to provide technical leadership on client-facing projects. This role involves building and deploying advanced ML solutions-particularly around computer vision, vision-language models, and document processing pipelines-while balancing real-world business impact, ROI, and system-level design.
What You'll Do
Design and develop custom machine learning models that deliver business value on time and within scope.
Build and maintain document processing pipelines, including data engineering components.
Fine-tune and implement recent vision-language models (e.g. LLaVA, DeepSeek).
Build and operate AI evaluation systems, comparing test versions of models to assess performance.
Lead system-level architecture decisions and own specifications to meet client expectations.
Translate theoretical models into robust, scalable code (primarily in Python) within a cloud environment (AWS).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business and technical stakeholders, to define actionable engineering plans in ambiguous settings.
Mentor project teams, supporting both technical growth and project execution.
Contribute to internal initiatives such as interviews, tooling, and process improvement.
Stay current on advancements in ML, especially in computer vision and model evaluation.
What We're Looking For
Must-haves:
Strong experience with vision-language models and document processing pipelines.
Experience building/operating AI evaluation systems.
Proficiency in Python, with ability to write clean, production-ready code.
Experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
General qualifications:
5-7 years of experience for mid-level, 8-10 years for senior-level.
Extensive professional experience building, designing, and deploying machine learning systems.
Strong software engineering fundamentals (OOP, version control, code hygiene).
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated success in client-facing or stakeholder-heavy environments.
Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
Advanced degree (MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field) or equivalent work experience.
