The Wealth Management Compliance Executive is a senior leader responsible for overseeing and enhancing the compliance framework for the bank's Wealth Management business. This role ensures adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies governing investment advisory, brokerage, trust, swap dealer and private banking services. The executive will serve as a strategic partner to business leadership, providing expert guidance on regulatory matters and risk mitigation, while fostering a culture of compliance and maintain Key's reputation with regulators. Compliance is a functional unit within the Risk Management organization. The Compliance Executive - Wealth Management will report to the Chief Compliance Officer.
Strategic Leadership & Governance:
- Develop and execute the compliance strategy for Wealth Management in alignment with enterprise risk and compliance objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders on regulatory risks and compliance obligations or potential compliance issues, including development and implementation of remediation plans that result from regulatory or internal findings.
- Represent Wealth Management Compliance in enterprise-wide governance forums, up to and including KeyCorp Board and its committees, as assigned.
- Act as a liaison with applicable regulators and other internal or external authorities on matters concerning compliance with laws, rules, regulations and standards. Maintains constructive interaction with regulators.
- Actively participate in industry conferences, peer bank events and round tables to promote identification of compliance best practices.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Responsible for compliance oversight responsibilities as defined in Key's Compliance Operating Model that is aligned to Key's Risk Profile, with the objective of managing risk within Key's risk appetite and tolerances.
- Lead a team of risk professionals, providing effective compliance coverage of a monitoring and self-testing program that performs regular and comprehensive compliance risk assessment and testing, identifies breaches and deficiencies, and formulates proposals for corrective action.
- On a pro-active basis, identify and assess the inherent, residual and emerging compliance risks associated with the assigned line of business processes and activities, including in relation to the development of new products, services and business practices, the proposed establishment of new business or customer relationships, or material changes in such relationships.
- Provides technical expertise to assigned first line of defense front line units in the establishment of compliance policies, procedures, and training. Advise senior management on applicable laws, and regulations including interpretation of regulatory developments impacting Wealth Management products and services.
- Oversee the identification and remediation of compliance issues and regulatory findings and escalating breaches of regulations or standards promptly to the Chief Compliance Officer.
- Provide oversight of compliance training materials developed by front line units. Develops executive compliance training for awareness of regulations and regulatory change.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (JD, MBA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Proven and experienced executive who possesses a minimum of 10 years of compliance, legal, risk management, audit or regulatory examiner experience within the financial services industry, with a focus on Wealth Management.
- Minimum 5-7 years of direct management / senior leadership experience.
- Deep knowledge of applicable regulations (e.g., Investment Advisers Act, Securities Exchange Act, Bank Holding Company Act).
- Must have deep Fiduciary and Trust Experience

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
- Can assertively, but tactfully, present compelling arguments, backed with detailed analytical support; can highlight the "whys" behind decisions.
- Strong executive presence and the self-confidence to make effective presentations to the Board of Directors, including the Risk Committee of the Board, executive management and to the principal regulator.
- Demonstrated success in delegating, mentoring, and developing people. Should be an involved, approachable, hands-on manager.
- A proven record of integrity, ethics, judgement, and maturity, both professionally and personally.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Certified Fiduciary & Investment Risk Specialist (CFIRS)
- Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
- FINRA Series licenses (e.g., Series 7, 24)
