Overview

This position is responsible for supporting Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL) and National Center for Blood Group Genomics (NCBGG) departmental operations by performing various administrative, secretarial, logistical, and laboratory duties.

Supports organizational quality efforts by accepting responsibility for:

    Reporting any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
  • Participating in implementation of solutions to problems.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm.



Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as primary contact for commercial manufacturers for the procurement of Commercial Products.
  • Strives to meet the commercial donor sales goals and meet the requests from vendors
  • Oversees the scheduling, collection, processing and shipment of products to commercial manufacturers according to defined policies.
  • Triages a high volume of telephone calls and provides the caller with the correct information or refers to a technical resource in a timely fashion.
  • Performs IRL and NCBGG laboratory daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Gathers complete and accurate information from customers to support orders and inquiries.
  • Prepares and organizes patient and donor records including ensuring proper labeling and completeness of files.
  • Sends patient reports and donor communications.
  • Orders, logs, tracks and reports monthly supply inventory.
  • Assists in completing purchase orders for department reagents and supplies.
  • Manages scheduling and communication for select donor populations to ensure hospital needs are met as well as commercial sales.
  • Coordinates facilities, equipment, services and supplies for various meetings and events.
  • Procures patient and donor samples for IRL testing and performs records check and logging according to defined procedures.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with both internal and external customers.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Minimum of Associate Degree of Science required/ B.S. preferred, with 1 year of experience in

clinical/medical field or performing duties in a related area. Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of a variety of software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle a variety of complex issues and situations. Position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of staff up to and including executive leadership.
