Laborers on the NAS Patuxent River team come from all areas of the Tri County of Southern Maryland including California, Ridge, Hollywood, Mechanicsville, Leonardtown, Waldorf, Laplata, Lusby, Solomons. Primary responsibility of the Laborer is to take up manual labor tasks and support operations on worksites. One of the most important Laborer duties is to collect trash, debris and other waste to keep the site clean and safe. Laborers also handle power tools and materials (such as saws and drills). The ideal EMI Laborer has stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads while staying on task and committed to safety.

$26.16/hr. plus $27.99 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

• Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material
• Assist Carpenters, Painters, Electricians, Fire System Mechanics HVAC Technicians or other tradespeople on-site
• Use power tools and machinery (e.g. forklifts) when needed
• Handle and transport materials (e.g. ground materials, grass, fill dirt,) ) and equipment (e.g. drills and grinders)
• Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks (e.g. digging, stacking up goods)
• Put up warning signs (e.g. signposts, cones) for vehicles and passersby
• Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures (e.g. scaffolding)
• Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions

• Knowledge of basic hand tools.
• Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to safety

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license compliant with REAL ID Act or are you willing and able to obtain one
• Class B
• Regular, dependable attendance
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
• U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations

• Ability to meet physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 40 pounds etc.)

• Apprenticeship or craft experience
